Brilliant reflections David about FISM's Close Up competition. I would never have made these connections to the old L&L, but yes. Absolutely. Close Up is just that. People see magic "close up," with everything available to view in that intimate venue versus a stage magic act using small props. Close Up is a battlefield of personality, confidence, and skill... and the undefinable ability to react to the reactions. That can never be judged when the performer is not "close up."
