I wanted to order a glorpy by Denny & Lee, but they told me they don't hold any because they can't find a good one anymore.
Does anyone know where I could find a "good" glorpy ? Thanks, Mathias

Not much to a glorpy. You can make one yourself. I don't understand the comment " They can't find a good one anymore".... Anyway, I know The Cuckoos Nest in Pitsburgh should have them in stock. http://www.thecuckoosnest.com

If you don't want to make your own Eugene Burger has some good ones made. They come in black or maroon and they're not too huge. Probably the best I've seen. You can get them through his webpage: http://www.magicbeard.com
I can't stand those huge paisley print ones that you typically find. Mark

I heard the comment when I called them up for something else and asked by the way if they had a glorpy. The answer was something like "we don't have them on stock because we are not satisfied with the ones we have found so far." (That was about the quality of the prop). Mark, thanks for the tip. I'll probably will order a black one through him. Matt

I have one from Eugene Burger. It's the only "glorpy" that I'm satisfied with.

Glorpy? That's what my girlfriend used to call me after a meal at Taco Bell...ah, yes...
Thank you Mark, I can use that info as well...I know someone looking for an Original Glorpy, but can only find Hyram Hank...and was not satified... Gratefully, Doug |

Glorpy is a very old friend. He is the hank of a thousand uses and always "up" for the job. The really good ones in the 70s were $5.00 new. Today just the clothe would cost you that. I've never been as happy with the substitutes. Go for the real thing. They do exist!

OK, I looked on the web sites and could not find it. What exactly is a glorpy?
Thanks for you help. Tim |

Oops, sorry, Eugene's glorpies are called Spirit Scarves. Same thing. It's an animated hankercheif thingy. Kind of hard to explain here.

I loved my Spooky The Spirit Silk, it was made with a black/white/grey design from Tannens, I think, for like $5.50. It was my favorite trick for some time.
When Denny says something is not up to quality, I listen to him. But if Eugene Burger is offering one, it's certainly worth looking into. |

Dear Matt,
They are very easy to make, unless I'm mistaken, can be found in Tarbell's series. The gaff ends can be dipped in liquid electrical tape, liquid latex or liquid rubber (found in the "tool department)." If you're not up to sewing Eugene is the answer. Kregg

I just bought a new one from Barry's Magic Shop a couple days ago, since I have no idea where my old one is & this post inspired me to replace it. It's made by Royal Magic, is dark blue with stars & moons in gold and white, and looks pretty good. It does say "Glorpy" on the box.

I have an original Glorpy with original instructions. Bought this as a kid in about 1975 or '76. I think it was a Madblood (that's the company for you young whippersnappers) product. The hank has a very 70's design...still pretty awesome. I may actually have 2 of 'em. When you bought it, it came with a little (about 1 1/2" square) piece of heavy paper with a cartoon ghost printed on it. I still have that, too! Man, talk about a magic packrat!

The shipping and handling will cost you more than that. Better piggyback Glorpy onto another purchase as well.

Yes, Look for "Hyrum the Haunted Hank" at your favorite dealer. Same trick only marketed by Loftus Novelty Co. They also market the Empire line of magic.
Madblood has been out of business for years. Glorpy and Hyrum come in normal mens pocket hankies for the coat breast pocket. They are not just material cut and hemed. Great effect, I, like SteveThomas purchased the original way back when. I also still have the original picture of Glorpy and instuctions. Hank Moorehouse did a nice funny routine when nerf sponge ball characters were the thing. He would produce Glorpy (a sponge funny looking thing) at the climax of the effect from under the scarf. |

The Magic Warehouse has it too! It's called "Sylvester Spirit Hanky" for only $5.00
