I´m starting to get into the Christmas mood... Does anyone know where to get white sponge balls?

They won't stay white.

That’s what I’m after - The Really Slowly Colour Changing Sponge Balls. The routine starts in November and ends around March.

But seriously ... does anyone make white sponge balls ? If they turn off-white is it possible to bleach them ?


If the idea is to make "snowballs" I would imagine that if you purchased some white foam blocks and cut your own that they would be suitable. Slightly less than perfectly round balls will look like snowballs.

I believe that Mila's Custom Sponge Creations could provide you with a set of snowballs if you don't want to carve them yourself.

I have used marshmallows in many effects. I know at fake ones are available and may be sponge.

Difficult to morph into something else, though.

Pssssttt............LISTEN to what Bill Palmer says in his post above.

Barry Mitchell sells them sometimes, or he used to, but they are off white.

Is there some hidden meaning in them that I’m missing? Please explain.

They will look incredibly dirty incredibly fast.

Dirty is something that post COVID is particularly bad. It can still be uncomfortable passing objects between people, though it is getting much better. Why highlight dirty props? They won't just become "off white" but they will absolutely look dirty.

In and out of your pockets they will just start to look horrible almost the first time you do it.

Bill, as usual, makes a wonderful point with very few words.

But do as you wish. there is certainly no rule against it.

OK, that was what I thought he meant, but would like to have been clearified. I am not going to use the balls for the usual routine. No spectator is going to handle them and they are not going into a pocket.

Well you got us. Since those are the only two possible ways for them to get dirty you should be just fine.

Well, I´m sure they'll be dirty eventually, but David Todd kindly pointed me to a dealer who sells them in bags of 50 so I can manage for quite some time - easily over Christmas anyway.
