I used my chick pan to make pop-corn appear. Other than that, the rubber band time warp (where a watch travels between four rubber bands).

Rubber bands, centre tear, paper clips(The Collected Works of Alex Elmsley has a brilliant effect where a paper clip instantly links a finger ring).Paper balls to do a sponge ball routine.

The Boredroom Buster from AOA vol.3 Great with business cards or even just scraps of paper with signatures. Baffling to office folk.
Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed and Tommy Emmanuel are all you need to study to learn to play guitar.

There is a card effect involving a photocopier/photocopy in Magic for Dummies you might check out.
To put a fine point on it, a photocopier is "office equipment" as was asked in the original. Rubber bands, paper clips, post-it notes, etc. are "office supplies." I've enjoyed all the posts, just thought I'd be a troublemaker. ;-) Regards,

I do that one! Heavily gaffed, it costs me a dollar every time I do it I don't own this effect but if its true what you say, there's an easier way and all you need is a can of soda pop, its on the first jaw droppers video where he does it with a rock in his shoe, can also be done if a can, ive seen jason the great(local magi) do it this way and it has fooled
when i beat you at your own game, you'll have no place else to turn

Again, thanks for the replies. This has helped quite a bit in the office environment, and I would definatley recommend the dan Harlan dvds for anyone else looking to do magic in an office.
Thanks to all. |

Don't forget Ghost Bills... this is a great "show me a trick" trick...

I use the "pill" at work, very funny and makes them laugh. I also do some simple card color changes (if you are into cards). Karate Coin is cool too (If you can catch a 50 cent piece easy) haha.. I am STILL working on the basic catch, I thought I was pretty good at catching something that I throw up in the air. :-

I agree - Mayne's Ghost Bills is a good one.
Forget self-folding bill trick in the office. Get Cooper's Power Lunch instant download from penguinmagic - a toothpick thru business card penetration that works better at lunch than pens do in the office. But, if you need another impromptu penetration, Sankey's Dough! - pen through dollar bill and Postit. Magic Mints look "cool" also. Download Morgan's The Opener - paperclip metal bending. Also agree with Dreamweaver safety pins linking Maybe even Sankey's 3-Ring Circus - I believe there can be a problem with the rings but have heard there is a work-around Can't go too wrong with Orange Juice and Vodka for something different, though the Saga-somethingorother coin will tarnish. Same thing with the cheap penny and dime trick - penny tarnishs and they are hard to separate. Most folks get Scotch and Soda, but I'm going to get Gibson's Coin Unique, figuring if you are going to have a foreign coin anyway, get the best set out there. Maybe if I live in Southern California still, I'd get Scotch and Soda. Chimp - You can learn CMH with the Quantum Bandits instant download from penguinmagic. Or buy Ammar's instructions. Or download from youdomagic. Or buy Harlan's DVDs. |

If your office uses string, you can do the cut and restored string effect. Another office trick is the levitating styrofoam cup (with no gimmicks at all).

I just did a paper clip bend that I learned from Daniel Garcia that is amazing. No gaffs or gimmicks, just have them unfold one of the larger paperclips. Hold it out straight in front of them and it bends.

I'd throw in Jay Sankey's Dough and Holy Moly for the coworkers at the office

My favorite part is putting the gaffs in the spectators hands...it gives you that warm fuzzy feeling inside! - Bob Kohler |

Thinkning about that Center Tear idea, if someone comes to ask a question, you can stop them perform Center Tear with the question. Then, at the end you can either reveal the answer or the question itself.

I really think I need to add rubberband tricks to my learning plan. Everyone here seems to love them.
