I got asked if I could a magic show based off of television game shows. Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be done. Also if there are any tricks based around game shows. I already know about "Deal or Steal."
Thanks
Bob

There is the Lemon Game by Doug Malloy. I know I've seen some others out there trying to remember.

Perhaps a Kurotsuke type of presentation of an old game show, To Tell the Truth.
Let's Make a Deal presentation with a bank night method ormaybe an equivoque style routine following Dan Harlan's procedures as presented in his VI Masterclass.

Maybe you could use the theme Deal or No Deal, giving every helper you use from the audience an opportunity to make a deal.
Think magicians' force and they never win.

A Bank Night routine, like John Archers, could be easily made into a game show routine...

With this getting started in the business area of the cafe, is the OP also requesting info on the business side for marketing, or only for the show side? If it is for the show and tricks input, a different forum thread may be more beneficial?

Great thought. I was thinking the same thing and wondering where this was going?

Sorry for putting this post in here. I did not know what section to put this is. Maybe MODS can move this? But yes I was wondering about tricks and presentation of a game show theme.

And it sounds to me like they're asking about a 'show' themed as a game show and not just inserting one trick.

That's what it sounds like to me.

Yeah I see the concern. For tricks or effects I would post in Penny For Your Thoughts or Inner Thoughts both mentalism forums, the later where details of effects are discussed.

I could see here if he is more interested in the business aspects of doing this.

Do you remember the trick about the clubs, where you reveal the information as a series of points on a folded piece of paper. The original presentation was to give away all the information; "There are 21 black cards." "They are all Clubs" "Except for the Ace of Spades."

I toyed with fixing the statements so they'd fit in a "Jeopardy format;" Jeopardy, NUMBERS FOR $100; "There are this many Black cards. (If they were all aces, you'd have a Blackjack!) Double Jeopardy SUITS FOR $300; "The cards are all this suit. (You could equip an army of cavemen with them.)" Final Jeopardy EXCEPTIONS "Except for THIS card, which is known as the Death Card!" The audience members would have to give the answers (in the form of a question) and you'd check to see if they were right.

The last panel would read; "Thank you for playing JEOPARDY."

I remember a game show idea I did years ago for a corporate event. I had a stack of envelopes with questions in them. I got a husband and wife on stage to draw and answer the questions. If you got a question right, you won money! The wife draws a question. It’s Incredibly easy. I give her the envelope as a coupon. The Husband draws a question… insanely hard! (I actually got some of the company’s engineers to write me question that anyone below them would never be able to answer!) When he misses the answer, I explain to him that when you get a question right, you win money, but if you get it wrong, you owe me money! I Mae him open his wallet and pull out a bill. I take the bill… look at the wife who gets the idea and hands me the envelope and I give her the cash! She gets another envelope and again, a VERY easy question and the audience gets what’s about to happen. I look at the husband who realizes what’s about to occur. Sure enough he gets an impossible question and opens his wallet for me. I grab a big bill and hand it over to the wife. After 3 times I take one of the envelopes, throw away the question and place the bills inside, mix it with the other 2 envelopes and it turns into a Bank Night effect. She selects an envelope for herself, the Husband selects one. The final one is burned. They debate amongst themselves which one should be burned next. They select and that too goes into the flames. Final envelope is opened and no bills inside! Inside the question is read by the Husband, “Who was burned the most, you or your cash?” Bills reappear in a nest of boxes “…or would you like to trade for what’s in the box??? Lol… it’s a shame I created it just for that one show but could easily be tweaked for any speciality group.

If you’re asking me… it went very well and got a get reaction. It was very specific to an Industrial show with a group that had the exact same knowledge base with their spouses in attendance. I never had that specific need later or I would have certainly revived it.

Paul Green has this very routine in his "In the Trenches" Video...complete with patter about playing Jeopardy.
