What are some of your favorite Halloween routines for elementary school kids? I'm performing 2 (30 minute) stage shows for a school event coming up. I have tons of content but I am reviewing my set list for some possibly new ideas.
Thanks! Dan. |

Visit some of the pop-up Halloween stores (as well as arts & crafts stores etc.) for a respectible selection of props that can be adapted to your Halloween performancs with just a tiny bit of imagination.

Sponge eyeballs routine, and Forgetful Frankie come to mind. I also like the eyeball zombie - but don’t have that one!

The Farmer and the Witch from Tarbell 3. It includes costumes, a story, and it is not complicated. No heavy lifting of props and can almost be considered a pack flat play big illusion.

Thanks everybody and Donald's link reminds me of so many things that I have forgotten over the years. I believe I have a solid 30-minute set which should be very entertaining, visible with a quick reset. Hopefully the weather cooperates.
My set list goes something like this with music transitions: Bowl-a-Rama with a pumpkin (James) Sponge Ball routine with a Skull Final Hat Load Chick Pan using some Halloween Confetti's to Candy (Viking) Black & Orange Mouth Coil routine (Burgoon, Zucchini & Creasey) Bekos 4.0 (McBride) Rat Trap Card Stab (Marotta) Dan. |

Here's some of the Halloween-themed tricks that I use in my show:
Mis-Made Monster - Wack-O-Magic Sam the Skull - Practical Magic Haunted Bottles - Jim Kleefeld The Terribly Spooky Race - Ken Scott Tony Chris also has a Halloween DVD, but it's no longer available, though you may be able to find it on ebay or elsewhere. He has a couple of good bits, and I also like his Halloween haunted table (Losander) routine. I also do the usual milk pitcher routine, but I color the liquid green and call it witches brew. I pour it into a witches hat instead of a newspaper, and then place it onto the volunteer's head to show it has disappeared. I close each show with Ken Scott's Terribly Spooky Race. I have one kid and 3 adults come onstage, and dress them all up in a witches hat, wig, and cape. Each time their card is called they have to come forward and make their scariest witches cackle. I tell the kids that if the child wins, everyone will get a prize. Of course the kid wins and everybody gets a lollipop after the show. |

You might be better off trying to order it from a magic dealer, who might still have some in stock. Or, find it used. ---- And, for those in the UK, you can order The Terribly Spooky Race directly from Kimmo. But like Ken Scott, he's also out of stock at the moment. Kimmo has created several different race games. - Donald
