Take a look at video presentations of both and make up your mind. The best video of Slydini's Knotted Silks is from The Dick Cavett Show.

My take? While using similar techniques to accomplish the effects, they are not identical... although many magicians confuse what the plot of the trick is. Consequently, they confuse the audience as well. Sympathetic Silks is either an effect where knots jump from one set of silks to another, or knots that are tied in one set are magically duplicated in another.
The Slydini Knots effect is how knots tied in a pair of silks instantly and magically dissolve. This is repeated under what appear to be increasing difficult circumstances. In my opinion, mixing the two major effects into one routine results in uncertainty as to what has actually been accomplished! |

I totally agree that the Sympathetic Silks and the Slydini's Knotted Silks routines should be performed as separate routines to not muddle up what is happening.
Slydini actually performed them in a longer, stand-up, routine from time to time. Here is a poor clip from a TV performance (I think the Dick Cavett Show): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HbTQA_4btQ Enjoy.
The artist formally known as Mumblepeas!
