Is there anything built it to keep it "locked"?

One of the reasons the Greek Peek wallet works so smoothly is because it was designed not to lock. The peek happens almost automatically. With all of the handlings taught on the tutorial video, no locking mechanism is needed. That said, some people do like a locking feature. If that is important to you you might want to look into a different wallet such as the Viper.

I also like the Greek Peek wallet as it is, but I think adding a simple locking mechanism would make it perfect.
With a locking mechanism, you could begin your mind-reading routine with the wallet in the open position, get your peek, and continue with all the steps as described in the video instructions, leaving the wallet on the spectator palm automatically locked. |

Wouldn't be too hard to modify it to lock, which is exactly what I will be doing. Just a personal preference.

There were one or two folks on the Facebook page that easily modified theirs to lock by adding m*****s

Greek Peek is literally just a vertical non-locking Shelby Wallet.

I really enjoyed this interview with Craig Petty and Tony Antoniou where Tony shares his career story, how he got started in magic, how The Greek Peek wallet came to be, what drives him and much more:

I think it bears more connection with Blink 2 than the Shelby.
Shelby was based on the Spy Cat wallet ebook and was basically the same but with a m****t and a m****r added. In itself it wasn’t terribly original and there was no crediting the inspiration. |

For those of you so keen on the Shelby wallet, you might look at the poor reviews at Vanishing Inc.
Also the dark window on one side looks like an RFID window. No matter what that is, I will never use a wallet with that type of look. To me it seems unnatural. Sometimes, billets are overrated. For example, consider all the energy put into billet switches. The truth is, if you were very poorly coordinated, you could do pretty poor switch and the audience can't follow the billets anyways, because they are tiny and of the same color. Of course I like billets, but I refuse to do something just because it is considered classic, yet is very hard to follow. If you do mentalism, you know the power of indirectly referring to something. Also, there is a strong motive for putting the card into the wallet: you tell the spectators that until you write something down, it is hard to be sure you have chosen something. And, writing it down guarantees that someone did not accidentally forget what they chose. If you have them put the card in the wallet, while you hold it, it is very natural if you provide some motivation that is reasonable. the key is, don't make a big deal about it. Next, you show them the wallet. It is important not to be "proving anything" when you turn the wallet over and get the peek. Better just to nonchalantly mention that their thought is now locked up and now, I have to read your mind. What has helped me a million times over is to look at them and see if there is any connection between a symbol on them and the word they wrote. next, you should always try to intently read their palm(s) and find some key symbols on at least one of them. this has convinced my spectators that I am truly attempting to read their mind. So again, reading someone's mind and how a prop works takes some careful planning and scripting but mainly being nonchalant and indirect about the wallet. It is just a tool to hide their thought until you do mind reading. If your actions and words give them even a reasonable reason to believe this, they will be convinced you are reading their mind. However, it took me much longer than I would like to admit, to know how to do this convincingly. |
