Many magicians writing here consider the Slydini Silks from Palmer Magic to be the best silks for this trick (according to the website 18" "Regular price $ 40", 24" "Regular price $50").
https://palmermagic.com/products/slydini......=uniform However, some here prefer other silks. One user wrote: "You may want to check out the silks that L&L supply for the Knotted hanks. They are much better then the palmer ones. Bill Malone no longer uses the ones made by palmer." Can anyone here kindly tell us why they think other (which?) silks are better? Or why the Palmer silks are really the best? Many thanks in advance. |

I use Chinese silks that I bought from Bob Sanders, years ago. They're tough and I've never had to replace any of them. The corners could have a slightly contrasting thread stitched to them, to tell them apart, or you could put a dot from a permanent marker on the corners.

I believe the Palmer silks aren't really silks, but parachute material. They're tougher and slicker than silks. Exactly what's required to upset those knots.

I'm pretty sure Bill is still using Palmer's. I don't actually perform the effect, but I do own Palmer Magic. I know what is required to make the effect effortless, and the material used in ours is exactly what Slydini wanted. I know this because Palmer Tilden was granted the right to make and sell the effect by Tony Slydini and Tony helped in the entire process to create the product we offer. Tony even taught the lady who sews them how to do it correctly. I have purchased all the other versions that have come and gone from the market, and none meet the standards Syldini required of Palmer Tilden to be given the rights.
