Pete,
We actually met a long time ago. You used to hang out at Buma's in San Francisco when you lived there. I visited several times a year and remember you, Emil Clifton, Mat Corin, Vic Kirk and others on Saturdays. It was a great time! I miss Buma and those good ole days. Perhaps I'll see you in November at the Magic Castle Swap Meet. Best Regards Paul Gross Owner Hocus Pocus |

Clifton and Matt... both great guys, sadly gone. Clifton died of Cancer and Matt was found dead, very young, in his van. He had run off to Europe to avoid arrest on drug charges. Too bad, he was so talented.
Buma's shop is still there, I'm sure you know, with Mark doing a great job. I hope to be at the swap meet. Joe Stevens will be out in Dec. for a Dealer Day and I'll be involved there too. Thanks for your support buying my offerings with Porper. More to come.

Hi Pete,
That's sad to hear especially if lost talent is involved, drugs are the scourge of the earth. I spent 43 years avoiding them. Not to hard for me since magic is my drug, also I found woman a much more appealing drug, but dangerous as well sometimes. |

Wondering if the mechancial pencil is similar to Tommy Wonder pencil in his book?

It is a Koran style pencil, not a Wonder type pen.

Correct. It UNLINKS the rings vs. Wonder's which is a Himber Ring "holder" to start the routine with. Check the newest Genii for comments about Bruce Cervon's finger ring routine. He kills with it.

Hi Pete,
I'm very pleased with your ring and would like to know if the Cervon routine is supposed to be released some day. What are the strong points in his routine that differ from those you joined with your ring ? Eric |

Cervon's ROUTINE is his... his timing, patter, audience management, etc. are UNIQUE and he (and I don't blame him) is quite likely to NOT publish it.
The trick is the same but it is BRUCE that makes the real difference. He is awesome with audience management.

Hello,
Just came across this thread today, and having never seen a Himber ring in person (nor a linking finger ring routine), I was wondering if there is a companion video for the Porper Ring that I could purchase? I feel crazy but based on all the reviews here alone, I want to purchase the Porper set and see for myself just how amazing this is - but my sane side tells me it might be better to buy the video (perhaps even just a performance video) and then shell out the hundreds for the rings if the video clinches it... maurice |

Or, you could buy the Linking Finger Ring video from http://www.stevensmagic.com and see the effect. This item allows you to do just about anything there, but easier, and the finish is similar to the video dem of the thread/pencil, but is NOT a thread and is a mechanical pencil that does the work, unlinking two rings visibly.

Do you think I could do this in a close-up setting or is this really a stage/parlour piece?

Parlour is best... close up might be difficult if you don't have about 10-12 feet between the farther apart folks. I have done it for a dinner table (long table) party, but worked from one end to the other.

I actually purchased the routine today. I fell in love with the footage that I viewed. Most folks are charging 699.95. I was able to get it for....
http://www.wizardhq.com/servlet/the-1070......s/Detail A nearly impossible task, but I went with the best price. Not to mention I own a lot of goodies from Biro and Porper. Top Quality. |

Hi Pete,
I just received my ring, planning to use it in a stage show. I purchased it mainly because it was said to be possible to open (and close) with only one hand. Closing it is no problem but opening is quite hard. I have cut my thumb (with bloodshed as a result) three times already trying to push it open... Any advice to this? Wear it down by opening and closing it a few hundred times? Bend it slightly to get rid of the locking mechanism? Using two hands to open it is no problem by the way, especially not if you pry the ends a part just a little bit when pushing...
