Where can I find the knot that can pull apart for two silks? I've tried my usual false knot realising the second silk locks the bight in places by cinching It down instead. I think it's the same knot (or you could use the same knot) that is used for the continuous production of tied silks as you pull them apart(unrelated but I would like to know what that sequence is actually called too). I don't have all the rice books so a more common source / DVD / streaming download would be better if possible.

And no, I don't mean Syldini silks style knots here - this "knot" is for actual silks.

Thank you.

I think you're trying to describe "Snap Silks", aka "Diminishing Silks".

Laflin Magic store sells video instructions for this, as well as a set of the silks.

History of the trick, from the Laflin website:

The "Snap Silk" is a Marvyn Roy concept which was developed from a trick by Eric Lewis called "Diminishing Silks." It is used by magicians around the world.

P.S. I'm sure there are other sources, too.

P.P.S. Here's a video clip I found online with someone performing "Snap Silks" with 3 silks, then leads into a "Silk Fountain".

This video is posted on YouTube by the SilkMagicTricks.com website, but remember to read the other posts here on the Cafe warning not to order from that website.

Amazing, thank you! I'd have lost money on this, I presumed it was way older than this. I have M.Roy's greater magic VHS or DVD - been a very very long time since I've watched. I'm going to dig it out now.

The knot used in Slydini Knotted Silks can be used with real silk. I only perform it with real silks.

TARBELL: Volume 1 page 370..it's the NU-Way Double knot...It never jams up like an 'upset' square knot can do.

Thanks for that info Jonathan. One of the reasons I gave up on Slydini silks was the problem with my upset knots jamming. I love the routine, just never could rely on it to work.
