Hey gang,

Got a notice from FISM today and I was dumbfounded to say the least.

This year FISM will be held in Italy. That said, the powers to be have decided to embrace the digital world and have added a few new categories to their normal competitions.

Apparently The Magic Café™ has been nominated for a

FISM award in one of their new categories. Wow!

The Magic Café™ will celebrate its 25th anniversary in September. Yep, we've been around that long.

I've always done what I can for the community at large and now we need your help in this FISM competition.

I tried to vote, but I could not in good conscience vote in the other categories (because I have not been keeping up with performers), and the voting process won't let me through until I vote in earlier categories (I guess).

Can you give a link to the right page or ask the committee to allow voting in just one category?

Sorry Mary, the voting takes only a minute or two and I have no say-so how the folks at FISM organize these things.

I'm afraid they are unlikely to let you vote in only one category - I have never heard of an election process that does.

It is unfortunate that FISM made voting in every category mandatory since not every magician is knowledgeable in every category but it was important to get a vote in for TheMagicCafe so I voted in each area based on a name I knew just to get to TheMagicCafe..

I did try to contact them through an email just now. I doubt it will have any effect, but maybe next year.

In the categories I had no basis on which to make such a decision I clicked “other” and then wrote in “none”. It sent me on to the next category. FISM itself has a long tradition of having vacancies in the awards where they felt no act rose to that level.
