Hey, there is this book, you may have heard of it..... it's called Bobo's Modern Magic, you don't need hardcore coin stuff...... the audience doesn't care you're holding 8 coins in classic palm or muscle passing into a topit, they want coin magic that is easy to understand... that's why I reccomend Bobo's and also Doug Brewers new DVD "The Unexpected Visitor" or if you like books again just get the unexpected visitor book.

Mike,
You could repay the kindness by gettin' the darn book out! <G> And yes, Curtis' stuff tends twords the hardcore and is also worth your attention. As for Bobo's The New Modern Coin Magic, it's full of hardcore coin work as well as the basic stuff. If you really want to impress your (magical) elders as well as the move monkeys (to use Bill Malone's term) learn the Coin Star, the Eureka Pass routine and the edge palm (not edge grip) stuff. |

I started on Bobo and Buckleys book back in the mid 70's.
I still go back to it for ideas and to remind me of things I forgot. Along the way I continue to study things like... If it Fits Sleeve it. Slydini Stuff,(and was lucky enough to take some group lessons from him at an early Desert Seminar/81) A few years ago I broke down and moved into videos with...David Stone. Last year I moved into the modern age with DVD's by Kam, Reed and Dr. Rubinstein. I was familiar with Doc R's earlier manuscripts. Some day I may try giant coins through the table. Simple is a great concept. That is why I go back to the basics and try to stay green so I can grow. The more I know about coin magic, the more I realize I do not know. Enjoy the journey. Harris

Hi Wsduncan,
Your right! As the old masters used to say " It's not what you do but how you do it!" And as Marlo always Said " If it where realy Magic how would it Look!" sometimes You have to do the hard stuff to make it look good! But not all the time! A Good Mix would be best I think! I do have some Hard stuff in my books. But that's not what it's all about! But he said Advenced Coin magic! It does not all ways have to be hard to be Advenced! It is also hard To know WHEN to ring in A gaff! And how to sell it so it looks like it's not there! And how to combind it With Slight of hand So thay both work togeter! Just becase it's Gaffed Does not mean it is Easy! I have some stuff that uses A gaff And A backpalm ! And so it goes! Best David Neighbors The Coinjurer http://www.coinjurer.com |

I wonder why Kainoa Harbottle name seldom really appear in the café...
It's probably the first topic I see his name in... I think it a good material for advanced coin workers... specially for those who like coins across routine. You can find him here http://www.kainoaland.com/hsindex.html Ludwig Ok My bad. was wandering the café, did a search on kainoa and did indeed found some posts. Guess I'm not an old from the old one...
I'm just a blind Con that lost his I...
remember, Magic's everywhere... ("Your are the magic !" - Albert Goshman) "Voici mon secret. Il est très simple. On ne voit bien qu'avec le coeur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux" St-Exupéry |
