Hi, I'd like to know if you guys make vanished milk appear or not. If so, where and how?
Trying to think of a nice place to have the vanished milk from milk glass or pitcher reappear other than a lightbulb or funnel. Thanks! |

There is an effect known as Liquid Appear (in the UK it is known as Say When). It used to be sold by some dealers in combination with the Milk Pitcher. At one time it was made by Abbott's and also EZ-Magic/D.Robbins. I see them pop up on eBay from time to time . Someone may still make a version of it.
An empty glass is shown and placed into a metal canister and the canister is sealed with a lid. Milk is poured from a pitcher into a paper cone or paper bag. The milk vanishes from the cone (or bag) , then the canister is opened and the glass is removed , now seen to be full of milk. You might find some other ideas in the venerable Hen Fetsch classic booklet "Milk Pitcher Magic". ![]() . |

Perhaps a production from the coat sleeve, similar to the wine bottle from the coat sleeve.

Does it have to be milk? Milk like items stain and are difficult to clean.
For example, Kool-Aid allows for productions not possible with milk.

If you don't want to use just milk, Louie Foxx has a trick called "Evaporation" that is an orange juice (Sunny D) bottle. With this bottle you can make orange juice disappear. You can even have it re-appear if you so desire.

A Foo Can appearance. Have the Foo can upside down on your table to begin with.

Is there a reason for excluding a lightbulb? For me there is no better reappearance. I have both a Grant and a MAK Brilliant Magic Lamp. They are really great but are bulky to transport so I only use them for small stage. I have migrated to using Devin Knight's Hollow Bulb Effect variation as it is more practical:
https://www.lybrary.com/the-hollow-bulb-effect-p-737776.html https://www.penguinmagic.com/p/3637 I have it set up for both milk and salt. For milk I use a glass which the milk is then poured back into. For salt (actually little spheres instead as discussed in another thread) it is poured into the paper sack. |

Thanks for the replies. In this case, it does need to be milk and the light bulb just doesn't really make sense in the routine.

Here is one idea: You could use the same DK methodology with a baby bottle as with a lightbulb. Take baby bottle out of bag and show empty. Place back in bag. Show milk in glass or pitcher and say it is too cold and needs to be warmed up. Poor milk in newspaper which also has some flash paper in it (you can add thin metal section for flash paper hidden in folds if you want to be sure newspaper doesn't burn). Pull out lighter and ignite flash paper. Allow paper to unroll showing milk has vanished. Take full baby bottle out of bag turning sack upside down demonstrating it is empty. As an added bonus, warm the milk beforehand, a refillable hand warmer like is used in outdoors sports can be used to make bottle warm during transport. Then baby bottle can be handed out and it will indeed be warm milk. Patter could be how magic makes everyday life so much easier and you will demonstrate a recent example. |

I've used EZ Magic's Liquid Appear, a Foo Can/Cup as well as a simple glass switch. I also have a Sealed Milk Glass that I mostly use with a puppet routine. It is mainly for a visible milk vanish but it can be used to make the milk return "invisibly". I don't feel it is a super-duper deceptive prop but it works well with my comical puppet routines.

Just thinking out loud - maybe there's a way to produce milk instead of salt with Fred Kaps' salt effect ? So, the milk would basically reappear from your bare hands in an endless stream.
