Yes the props...some plastic wallets and spare cards this could easily be made as the one used in the demo.

Although the method has been employed in many tricks over the years as a self worker, I love the presentation and the cards. Absolutely great trick and goes to prove you don't need to spend big bucks on a good trick. Really entertaining.

Is there any possibility that this will eventually be sold through someplace in the USA, so that the shipping charges from the UK could be avoided? I agree that Predictor already seems to have too high a price because of all the equipment that comes with it that the buyers could supply themselves if it were just a download. The shipping charges just make it way too expensive. It looks great, but I can’t see spending that much.

Is there a name for the mathematical principle behind Predictor?

“Count stuff”
(Just a guess, maths is not my thing)
Please check regularly if you are becoming the type of magician Jerry Seinfeld jokes about. (This applies to mentalists as well.)

The principle has been employed by Alex Elmsley, Nick Trost, and John Bannon, to name but a few. Needless to say, it is a worthwhile investment. I believe this is a very clever application of it; it reminds me of similar effects by the likes of Bob Farmer, and that is a very good thing.

The thing that I love about it is, instead of test cards, you can write the prediction on your business card for a keepsake. Even the cards themselves if you choose.
Personally I like offering them a chance to swap piles with the cards they didn't choose during the 2nd phase. Just an added layer of choice. |

I had long ago read about the math principle behind this trick but I never understood it till I had already figured out how Predictor works, and then someone told me. I was stunned. So THAT’s how the principle works! I have much mre respect for it, and a better understanding of it, now. |

I love this trick. I actually start with a packet of ten cards. 5 and 5. Then progress to 7 and 7 for the final two phases as a way to provide more variables, even though it doesn’t really matter.

This trick is amazing for hobbyists. Easy to do and hard hitting. I still do not even understand the principle of why it works but it does! Love it.

I just got this today over from BBM's website (they got their 20th anniversary promo happening, for anyone interested) and was looking to make a post about it on the cafe to see if anyone else got it. Glad I remembered you can actually search for topics here. Ha. It's a really nice trick.

I picked this up right away as I really liked what I saw. I thought the principle at play was nicely hidden and the three phases makes it seem more impossible each time. The effect is straightforward and easy to learn. To answer a few questions from the thread. No memory work. In fact, once the cards are setup, it is self working and you can focus on performance. Reset is quick. You can certainly make your own prediction cards, or make the prediction on the fly. You could add these cards to a deck or setup your own deck if that feels more organic, or you can use the packets. Personally I think either is fine and it depends on your performance style. I don't bother pulling them out of a deck, I use them as they came in the packets. Also, once you learn the principle, you could make up variations of this. I also think this could be offered as both a physical item and a download. The physical items I received are of nice quality, but I could have also easily made up my own set. The video instructions are also shot well and are easy to follow. I would gladly recommend this effect.

I love this product and technique. Very easy to perform and script. Gets a great reaction every time. This is fairly priced and worth every penny. You can use any cards without compromising the routine. As Liam suggests, I handwrite my test & reveal cards for a more organic presentation. We have to stop nickel and diming creators when delivering great magic as the cost of the props on their own is not a fair depiction of the total value delivered. This simple routine is a worker and I can't praise it enough.

I performed this for the first time last weekend. It got one of best reactions in the entire show, not least from someone who’d been challenging to ‘get on board’ up to that point. “This will go straight into my set” is becoming a rather over-used expression. But Predictor has. And will remain there.
