If I was working professionally I would write all 3 predictions on the back of a single business card and leave that with the spectator.

Liam's thinking here is absolutely brilliant. It's the structure and the routining rather than the venerable (yet startling once you see it) method. The method is as astonishing to the first-time performer as the effect is to the spectator.
Here's my take on it, and it's a purely personal one based on how it fits into my routine. I'm working on a "how strangely the mind works" thing, so I'm trying to avoid anything magicky. So I want to ditch the "packet trick" aspects of it and have it as part of the regular deck, easily done. I also think, for my purposes, the absolutely socko ending is wrong. For me. Suddenly it's a "Magic Trick". However, it's a natural segue into OOTW. Do phase 1, do phase 2 -- "predictable? Let's test it even further." Fluff over the slight logic glitch and off you go. Maybe the bridge is "you've tried to be unpredictable, but what if you just let yourself go, make your mind a blank" sort of thing. You guys can figure it out, I'm still working on it. Great thinking by Liam with this one. It opens all sorts of possibilities. |
