Four fun custom decks of playing cards just released at the 2025 China Cardistry Con



Playing card manufacturer TCC Playing Cards has certainly been prolific in the past year or two, and they constantly seem to be bringing a new custom deck of playing cards to the market. The two series that have especially captured my attention personally are their TCC Fashion series and their Smooth Writing series by designer Lunzi.

The latest releases from TCC coincide with the recent 2025 China Cardistry Convention that was held from August 1-3, 2025 in Shanghai. It was attended by around 200 cardists, and featured many big names from the cardistry and playing cards communities. TCC was one of the co-sponsors of the event, and to celebrate the occasion four new Lunzi decks were released. Many collectors saw pictures of some of these cards, and were hoping that these decks were not exclusive to the event. Fortunately they aren't, and these are now available for purchase directly from TCC.

The tuck boxes of Lunzi's "Smooth Writing" series have an instantly recognizable style and design, and the four new decks that make up the Smooth Writing CCC2025 Set continue that trend.

Described as "balloon dog playing cards filled with joy", the Joy Deck is intended to be "a playful and colorful deck that awakens our inner joy". The tuck box immediately greets us with vibrant colours and smiley faces, while the cards themselves have a whimsical feel that features a reimagined look. The layout of the card faces is reminiscent of the Triplicates from the late 19th century, where the indices feature the card in miniature. Everything about this deck screams playful and fun.

Lunzi's previous 52x52 series featured a collection of doors, each of which hinted at an untold story within. The Panda 52 deck is a fun set of playing cards that draws on a similar concept. It introduces us to a giant panda, with its signature black and white being the colour scheme adopted for the entire deck. Both the tuck box and the card backs feature a panda friend tucked in bed, and this adorable creature also proves to be a companion for all the court card characters. The panda artwork also returns on the Ace of Spades and the Jokers.















=== CHANNEL 52 DECK === (US$20)

The Channel 52 deck is a collaboration with popular cardistry brand Missing, hence the repeated mention of their name on the tuck box and card backs. The card faces continue the typical style and graphic design of the Smooth Writing series, but the court cards have a vintage look, and use a landscape orientation that pictures an old TV set. The use of metallic inks helps add extra good looks. It's a playful look that shows how even a black-and-white deck can be creative, fresh, and lively.



















=== DUO 52 DECK === (US$20)

The Duo 52 deck is a collaboration with popular cardistry brand Lotusinhand. The tuck box and cards immediately bring to mind Lotusinhand's signature Duo playing cards, which features a striking design composed of four triangles in two different colours. With Duo 52 this has been combined with Lunzi's vintage hand-drawn style for a familiar and yet fresh look.











=== THE CCC2025 SET === (US$60)

This set consists of the standard versions of all four Smooth Writing decks. It comes in a black matte box that captures some of the design elements from the decks themselves, and is finished with holographic foil and a custom seal, plus a foldable handle design.



A gilded version of each deck is also available for separate purchase. These add extra foil and luxury to the tuck boxes, as well as novel features such as holographic and duo-coloured edging.
