Hello all,

I work on a trick which requires to vanish a single card.

It must be a complete total vanish (card not hidden in hands).

It must be without using the card case or other cards.

I think about some simple accessory prop (himber wallet, flick wallet), envelope

If you can point me to some other practical solutions it Will be great!

Thank you!

Best

Does the card need to dematerialize? Or would it be ok for just the print to vanish from the card? If the latter, the WOW gimmick is one of the most visual approaches.

Frank, it is a normal playing card with a torn corner. I need to vanish it completely somehow to find it later elsewhere.

It is for parlour or a small stage setting.

Not sure if the Wow gimmick works with a torn corner card.

Thank you!

If you want a "prop" then a locking flap box would do the trick, or a Roterberg style box. Both could be opened by a spectator.
Depending on your performing style and prop choice a more natural approach would be a "flawless" Shaxon /Johnson style envelope, inserting the card into the top envelope of a stack, getting an audience member to sign the flap, then hold on to the envelope. You could have a second message card in the envelope "What are you gawping at?"(but more witty) for a Spectator to discover when they tear open the envelope.

As my best magic buddy is Mark Leveridge I had better mention his definitive work on envelope trickery "Forever flapping"

Thank you. This is some valuable context.

Here are some suggestions:

1)After tearing off the corner, fold the card into quarters (you probably already prefolded card to tear off corner). Then visibly vanish it off your hand using a Raven. You can get a thin light W***** at a hardware store and use magicians *** to deploy this with card. This can even be vanished off a spectator's hand. Vanishing off a spectator's hand would be very nice for parlor but probably not as easily seen from stage. So probably best to do off your own hand shown on stage so hand can be tilted towards audience fully displaying card as other hand passes over it.

2) Have a p*** set up with a folded card. Then do a simple billet S*****. Then card can be vanished visibly.

3) Transform the card into a bill using a non-gimmicked (no-TT) $100 bill change. See John Lovick's Switch book or reelmagicmagazine.com Issue #1 Paul Harris which features John Lovick in the Off the Shelf segment. Instead of bill, it can be a piece of paper which says "Look in X" to have spectator find the card there.

4) Best in my opinion: Do a simple S***** with a flash card (ie. a card made out of flash paper). Then reach into pocket to get lighter. Clean and visual! But Flash Cards are getting more and more difficult to secure. For stage this is about as magical as it gets.

All of these options can be done "up high" making them more visible for parlor and small stage. Using a box or cloth will likely make the vanish hard to see by the audience in those situations.

Thank you so much Franck, Chris and Riff!!

A lot of good options to choose from! ????????

Franck, love the idea of changing to blank piece of paper with the message where to find the card!
