"Mike Gallo - Premiere Coin Magician - NYCMS 2004" Video/DVD Qi Concept Productions

Hi, I'm posting in this forum because it seems a place those knowledgeable about this might be frequenting. Does anyone here have a copy of this or know where I might find one? Thank you in advance.

The only NYCMS dvds were produced by the NYCMS group. Qi Concept Productions sounds like a Chinese ripoff. Meir Yedid at mymagic.com is now the only one who owns the rights to the entire series. I believe that in December of 2005, we put out the two disc DVD set which was volume 1 on Coins Across, the first of the series. The first actual seminar we did was probably in 2004 in New York, and there is no video footage from that day. The first two volumes of the series were also allowed to be translated into japanese by a Japanese company (I can let you know the name of the group tomorrow), but after that they declined to pay us to do any more volumes.if you are looking for the Japanese edition of volume 1 or 2, I might have an extra copy

The Japanese company that was given permission to subtitle the NYCMS dvds vol 1 and 2 was script-mjp with our copyright on the box. So, the company you mention never had authorization to sell any NYCMS material, and to repeat, no NYCMS footage exists before the 2005 volume 1 issue. Please do not purchase anything from a company that does not respect the ownership of our material, which is what most all the dealers in China do because they do not respect or honor international copyright laws.

Michael, you yourself posted about this video before the group began producing the group DVDs. Bill Wells also made a reference to it here at the Cafe, and we all know he is more than credible.

Now, you are going to have to figure out how to get in touch with this guy and how much of this stuff he is willing to sell you...I understand he spends a lot of time on the bus, so it might not be easy.

And I saw at least one more reference to it last night. I'll find it. The video/DVD was sold by Mike and sold out at an early seminar.

I looked up the company last night and it came up in a Google search. A trademark site gave a New York address:

I really don't appreciate being accused of supporting knock-offs, Michael. That's an ignorant, hurtful statement to make to me. A little care in comments would be a nice change around here.

No, I don't believe it's from the set. It seems to have been produced prior to the group beginning to produce group videos. It's something Mike had available for sale at the very early seminars, as expressed in the quotes above. I'm not sure where it was filmed. Thank you for your question.

Ok Laurie,my post was in no way made to disparage you, and all I said that shouldn't even offend you is to implore people not to buy chinese knockoffs, which was in no way saying that your inquiry meant that you support them. Everything I said in my post was absolutely true. There was no footage taken at our 2004 seminar where Mike first appeared as our special guest. The OFFICIAL NYCMS dvds is a set, and there are no extras. At each seminar each participant received a collection of things contributed by the performers (I am sure you also received a package of stuff at the seminar that you attended). If Mike made on his own a DVD to give away or sell at our seminars, that was his only and not related to our OFFICIAL material. I gave out dvds and special notes as well, but they were of my own stuff. I don't recall what Mike contributed, or brought to sell ON HIS OWN, but although he might have had it at our seminars, it is not part of the group as was implied by using the term NYCMS (and since in 2004 we held our first seminar, and Mike was our special guest at the time, he might have brought stuff to sell as does a lecturer at a magic group/convention).
I am sorry if that offended you, but I would not want people to think that we put out a dvd that no one knows about. There were only 8 attendees at our first seminar, so if Mike had something then, that would have been the extent of his sales.

Oh, one more thing. The term "Qi" (or "?") is a fundamental concept in traditional Chinese philosophy and medicine, often translated as "vital energy," "life force," or "material energy.
I did not see any reference to a Qi group in Elma, NY, but maybe it referred to ELMIRA NY where I believe John Blake lived. John put out the Mike Gallo dvd set, so MAYBE the dvd you are referring to was an early copy of stuff from that set.

John Blake Produced DVDS with his company East Coast Magic, in Pennsylvania. None of those are the video in question, which is no longer in question, as I have photos of the front and back covers. Indeed titled as cited, and produced in America, according to a very legitimate source, by a man who was also a Karate instructor.

So, for those who may be interested, it's out there.

You are right about East Coast Magic being in Pa, but John may have lived at some point in Elmira, not sure. I just recall Mike talking about John at some point, and I seem to remember Elmira (unless it was Tony Spina, since John worked at Tannens in NY under Tony). But that was from a long, long, time ago, so can't be sure. As for Mike having his DVD available at Seminar 2, no idea We always let seminar guests sell stuff if they wanted, and even though Mike was then part of the group officially, he might still have brought some to see. At the second seminar we filmed volume 1 on Coins Across. If you are still looking for it, either Marc DeSouza or Bill Wells would have a copy as they were both at Seminar 2 and have extensive magic collections. I checked all of my old seminar stuff to see if I had anything from Mike outside of his notes, and I do not. Mike didn't do that stuff on his own, if anyone helped him make it would have been his friend from Buffalo, Vic Trabucco, who also edited three volumes of our Seminar when the usual guy Scott wasn't available. So, you could ask him as well. Outside of the John Blake videos and ours, Mike only had a few other things out, including a download from the Magic Castle.

Vic Trabucco is not the name I received. I have found someone who has a copy.
