I came across this interesting article in an issue of M-U-M magazine (January 1978) by Harold Rice (Silk King Studios) on "THE CARE OF RICE'S SILKS"

The article does give this caveat at the start -

NOTE: The information to follow is confined to products of our own make and does not necessarily hold
true to silk fabrics obtained elsewhere.

So some of this information may not apply to all silks, but I think in general it is good advice on the care of silks from the man who was The Silk King.
