1. I never said it wouldn't be fine. I said it needs a marker, therefore less space to write because it's thicker than a pen. Not by much, but just pointing it out. With the already small post-it size, it doesn't help to also have to use a slightly thicker marker than a pen. Not a big deal, but relevant nonetheless. Forget space, using a pen will give you more detail and precision compared to a marker.

2. I'm pretty sure you have to use the marker that comes with it.

They are valid points Patrick is making - especially asking someone to draw anything. Quite often I find people draw quite detailed drawings as a random design as opposed to an image. I used to for simplicity, as someone to draw a simply drawing eg a house etc. But quite regular after the reveal, people would justify how I knew because “I bet lots of people do the same drawings as there’s not many simply drawings”. This sadly deflated the reaction it deserved. So now if doing a drawing reveal, leave it open saying they can any drawing. Point here is if they decide to be detailed, the thick marker of even a sharpie restricts their space (because of the size of the pad) making them still cram in what they want, but makes the drawing squashed.

So technically I could see this being a slight concern using a marker opposed to a ballpoint/biro pen, not saying this example happens all the time, but just saying to be aware when it does unless you guide/manage them to certain drawings.

Previously with this type of method, the words/drawings could really bleed together creating an unrecognizable blob. Hopefully Chris has worked this out to eliminate or greatly minimize this problem. Seems as though he has. But using a marker does exacerbate this issue because of the thicker lines, or at least it used to in prior versions.

We will have to wait until it is released.
In the meantime, reviews from Dual Pad should be rolling in soon.

Alex (monster) and Mark (Saturn) have both said good positive comments re dual pad on their review shows. It sounds like both dp and noted are working off same principle, but with dp you have to place the pad face down for about 15secs for activation, where as noted you don’t have to place face down on table.

I don't own it yet, but I would be very suprised if the fine point pen I'm thinking of wouldn't work, and you were limited to the supplied marker. With the method as it appears to be from what we know as long as you use a pen with the correct properties it will work. And as this method has been explored by others in the past, there is a lot of information on what pens and markers do and do not work, though that information tends to stay underground and is classified.

I’m looking forward to your review and perhaps a comparison. Happy holidays and thank you, Patrick.

So it’s a normal everyday marker. How come a marker comes with it? Seems to be some ambiguous statements in the thread.

I have most of what Chris puts out. He’s an awesome creator!!!

It’s a normal marker with certain qualities. If you need another one, you can easily get one because it’s not gimmicked. But I’m sure he’s providing one so that you can get started right away without having to go out and make an additional purchase.

Because while the marker is ungimmicked and off-the-shelf as is, not all markers or pens will work. No work needs to be done to the marker, but it does need to have a certain property.

Was this released today? If so, it looks like it's sold out already.

Thanks everyone, that's kind!

Starting tomorrow I'll be working hard to finalise the last small elements for Noted's release.

I'll let you all know here and on my amazing supporters list first.

Have a great weekend, during mine - I'll be using Noted...
