“Talk about posting the same message over and over and over.......it's now getting old.”

Yes, God forbid that on a thread about a trick we get lots of different people’s reviews of the trick. Too many people seem to like this trick!
Let’s just get one person’s exact same review posted 20 times like before!

It is a sales tactic, not a review.

Quotes magicians trade with each other to use in their publicity aren't really reviews. More of a quid pro quo.

Do you think Chris Kenner, Dan White, Cyril, Michael Ammar etc are in a quote trading business with me? That the executive producer for David Copperfield or the other biggest names in magic are interested in me endorsing something they do?

Those people have nothing to gain saying ANYTHING about my creation. If they do say anything it’s because it’s their natural response to seeing the system.

The quotes I have shared here from Chris Kenner, Lloyed Barnes, Mark Elsdon, Nicholas Lawrence etc - none of them have been something I asked for - Mark Elsdon reached out himself WANTING to give me a quote because of his genuine excitement, Lloyed ‘s quote is something he said publicly not even to me. Kenner’s and Lawrence’s “endorsements” were their genuine responses after they saw the system - these were not meant as quotes.

I get that other magicians’ thoughts and reactions to the system might feel worthless/meaningless if you think it’s just “quote-trading” but I’m sure most people whose responses I have shared had never even heard about me before so they are definitely not after getting something back from me.

I release my creations very rarely so it’s a special event for me and I’m just happy seeing how people react to it and I’m just sharing mine and their’s genuine excitement about the system.

As I explained, it’s not “just marketing” - there’s nothing I can do to force or trade something with Chris Kenner, Cyril etc to get them endorse the product. These are their short “reviews” - those people’s evaluation of the product, but of course they are not people who are going to sit down to write and post a lenghty review here in the Cafe or do an in-depth youtube video about it. So if Cyril says it’s genuinely the best borrowed can routine he has seen, he only says that because he means it, so it’s his review/opinion about the system.

I think Johannes makes a fair point there. I don't think this is just the usual scratch-my-back-and-I-will-scratch-yours-mutual-admiration-quid-pro-quo-stuff. There are quite a few people on the list that don't have that kind of relationship with him.

To be honest: I'm quite impressed with the quotes he collected. It makes me all the more curious to discover what he came up with.
Please check regularly if you are becoming the type of magician Jerry Seinfeld jokes about. (This applies to mentalists as well.)

What some people may fail to realize here, maybe because it’s quite obvious, is that you simply mentioning their quotes with their names is publicity for them because their name is being mentioned and read by people/talked about. So maybe let’s agree to disagree but (and you’re actually probably well aware of this), if actually IS a win/win situation…

I can already hear some people say something like “oh but they wouldn’t risk putting their name at stake if it wasn’t amazing”… and I still would disagree… to begin with I’m sure TBS isn’t a bad product (well I hope it’s not at least). But let’s say it’s not great great, let’s say it’s just ok - people will forget that those names have said what they said in a few months so it doesn’t really matter… like who remembers what one specific well-known magician said about a specific product from last year?! I certainly don’t Smile again… win/win and not much to lose for them… just mho

Three rules I used to beat into the heads of my young, “enthusiastic” sales professionals:

“After you ask for the sale, shut up”.
“Silence closes deals”
“Don’t talk yourself out of a sale”

When followed, everybody made more money…

I have never met a magician selling something who didn't fill silence with nervous chatter.

I like what BarFly posted: "You're trying to hard, work and finish your project. Then release it.

And..the 3 rules
After you ask for the sale shut up.
Silence closes deals.
Don't talk yourself out of a sale.

I'm kicking myself for following this thread, but find it entertaining to a degree. Like BarFly I was a sales Mgr for various corporations and clients did business with us after proving our value to them. Talk is cheap.

If your product is as GREAT as you say it is and that's proven by the end user then your product will sell itself. Finish your product, get it out to those that purchased it, stop posting reviews from popular magicians over and over and over...then sit back and bask in the additional sales.

OK I think I'm done now...Good luck with your product and wish you much success.

Thank you David! Definitely releasing a product like this for the first time has been a big learning experience and a lot to learn for my future releases.

It's puzzling to me why some here are acting like Johannes is dragging his feet when the release date has always been March 1st?

I think it is the sales pitch being criticized more than the release. The point seems to be the pitch has been made, let the sale come in. Release it and that is that. It is a sales point of view, not being critical of his release timeline.

Here's the real question - when Johannes posted about the pre-order, do you believe or not that he already had all of those testimonials? I choose to believe not, which means he's just been sharing enthusiastic feedback that's been coming in as he's working on completing the product. SO WHAT. How would it be any different from those individuals coming on and posting it themselves? Cafe members constantly expect purchasers to come back with their opinions on products. But because it's from big names and the product hasn't officially been released yet, it's not ok?

I'm genuinely curious what crawled up your a**es.

Way to TOTALLY miss the point I was making. It is almost a skill. YOU thought they were being critical of him and his timeline. When in reality they were pointing out the lack of sales experience.

I said that sentence to sum up their position, not to take my own.

This is why these threads get so convoluted. People want to cherry pick sentences that support their position, instead of actually reading what is being said.

As per usual here everyone is talking right past each other and not reading what anyone is saying.

In reality two people with fairly extensive sales experience have weighed in here to HELP! They were trying to show him a better way to sell, and you turn it into them being critical of his timeline. Newsflash. That doesn't help the creator one bit.
