Thank you for your answers. Obviously I can tell TBS is different to Sinful or Captured… I didn’t specify what I meant by “better” intentionally as I wanted people to interpret the way they wanted but I guess I mostly meant visually. From the videos I have seen of TBS it looks more like a puzzle to me, I wouldn’t say it’s really visual… especially compared to Captured. And Capture isn’t impromptu indeed but the preparation literally takes 30 sec and can then be repeated.
In any case thank you, I think I got my answer, thanks again!

Sinful works best with a particular type of can, but other than that it is impromptu. It may seem more impossible to some, but it's also a one-and-done trick. The handling, while not hard, likely requires more practice and care. TBS can be repeated, so although they are in the same category I don't know how directly comparable they are -- unless you just wanted to do it once. If you want to do it just once and don't care about putting it in a spectator's hands, I might go with Sinful. However, as noted I might perform Sinful as a lead in to TBS.
I agree with Tom Stone about the somewhat self-indulgent Introduction, but as you revisit this effect you never have to watch that portion again. As I watched it, I couldn't help but think much of it was driven by the criticism on this thread. The gradual rollout is an odd choice, but really I wasn't able to watch and digest everything that was released yesterday anyhow. Which of course doesn't invalidate other people's desire to have it all at once. I have to wonder, for those who purchase this later, will they also get it in the same way or will they get it all at once? I take it as just another manifestation of Johannes' enthusiasm for the project. He wants people to really take the time to learn it step by step, and not just put it on in the background as "content." I imagine that is part of what he meant when he said he only wanted the "right" people to buy it. The fallacy here is that the people who won't have time to get to it until next weekend or later are going to get it all at once anyway. I will stop rambling now. I do appreciate that the videos are organized and broken up into bite-sized chunks. |

I agree that the bite size videos are very helpful for those of us who do not have the time or inclination to watch all at once.

I do agree with Mr. Stone about the promotion and hype, a little much. And not to start a flame war, but FOR ME, the effect just doesn't do it, especially at that price. I'm glad that people are excited about it, I'll be interested in seeing reviews, once it's been out a while.

Gregory Wilson's favorite handling makes me laugh out loud! So clever and bold, especially after showing it in a different way before. The only thing that bothers me is stream only. I always try to avoid something like that because I've already lost money with it - suddenly a website is gone and that's it. Asked about it, but Johannes promised that it would not happen here. Nevertheless, it is not practical. I would have liked to watch it on my TV. |

On Mar 2, 2026, TStone wrote: A couple of notes. First, I very much agree with Tom above. Johannes's enthusiasm has been cited positively in the lead up, but I too find it a bit much in the actual teaching videos. Also a disappointment is, so far, the production quality as it's almost entirely just Johannes from a single camera position against a white wall. I know many people don't care about things like this, but for those who do, it doesn't match the quality of the trailer, and it's not on the level of, say, Christian Grace's demos. And, at least so far, there is no teaching with an actual spectator. Given the price point I think more could have been put into the filming and, as Tom notes, a director/editor could have been of some use. I'm also a bit bummed that the whole thing didn't drop at once. The product page did not mention "the typical drip release," as Johannes calls it. He starts with the gimmicked versions, and as Madison noted in his very good and recommended review (he really does tell you all you need to know), most people probably won't perform this one. All of that said, while I think the price point is too high, this is an effect I'm happy to know. The purely impromptu/"looks like impromptu" version can be done very quickly and casually, and then you can do one or two follow ups and be done in under a minute, even. It's a bit like doing a few quick phases of an ambitious card. For someone who's a seldomly performing amateur, like me, it's a good casual trick. |

I have only gotten through the over of the methods video and yes Johannes, after watching, my first impression is very positive! I am definitely getting excited to learn more and get to the detailed explanations.
I really believe this is going to be fantastic and absolutely will perform this when the opportunity presents itself.

Wow!! Very slick.
1. What is the level of difficulty in the slieght of hand? 2. Is this something that needs to be used periodically or after learning can be picked up again a few weeks later? 3. Is it considered knacky? Thanks. |

I am new to this thread and am just beginning to watch this presentation. Although the effect is quite amazing, I am somewhat annoyed by the length of explanations I have already seen and still do not have a clear idea of what on earth he is talking about. The constant giggling and thrill of having invented this is also kind of annoying. Just get to the point. Why do we need such a detailed explanation and "course" requiring more time to learn this simple trick? Just show it and be done with it. Seems that it takes more time to explain this n than it does to learn Ramsay's cylinder and coins.

Performed as individual effects, there are some really fun tricks. But this system really shines when chaining the effects together. Constantly varying methods keep people's cognitive processing proceeding down the wrong path. Plus, the end of one phase sets up the next one. Each phase taken individually you probably wouldn't need to practice frequently. But routining them together will probably require regular performance and regular practice. You can perform gimmicked and non-gimmicked routines. And even most of the gimmicked routines can be performed impromptu sans gimmick. The gimmick is not included. But if you purchase the system, you will understand why it is not. The components will literally cost you less than $5 and take five minutes to make. Even carrying the gimmick and one extra thing, it requires ZERO (OK, almost zero) pocket space for the non-impromptu phases. AND, the end of every phase leaves you completely clean. The million dollar question, (actually, it was $117.48 for me), is it worth it? If you are a close-up, bar, strolling or busking performer where cans are prevalent, yes. Definitely. And like all effects regardless of price, if you are going to perform it. In he trailer, what you see is what you get. So you should know. But keep in mind, this is coming from a guy whose most performed effects are Grandma's Miracle, Block and Cord, Scotch and Whiskey key through counter and NoRisk.

With some of our most commonly performed effects matching up, I feel validated at least in my initial thoughts that this might fit my style. I also picked up this project and I am waiting to hold my overall judgement until I process all of the tutorials and take some time to work with it. So far I think everything I have seen is very clever and I can see myself working it, but I tend to agree with earlier posts as well suggesting that this project could have benefited greatly from a video editor/director. |

If I had spent that much of my life on a project, I too would be excited when it came to fruition. There is quite a bit of unnecessary fluff however. But when spending this much money on a magic system, I would prefer something more on the Craig Petty side of the spectrum than N2G's.

My first impression: I’m really impressed with the system and happy with the purchase. I really can’t see anyone being disappointed with this. Over the last 40 years, I’ve had a few versions of the plot, but the only one I’ve liked enough to include in a professional performance was Sinful. I can definitely see myself using several of the versions taught here. Johannes’ passion clearly shines through, and that is refreshing. When he showed all the versions at the beginning of the project, most of them fooled me, also refreshing. Perhaps the biggest strength is that the ending on one phase sets you up for the next phase, and when you think you have a version figured out, the next version cancels the method you were thinking about and the deception builds.
As for the delayed release of the various tranches, I actually like and agree with his thinking. There is too much to take in all at once, and I think it definitely aids in the learning process to release the tutorials in phases. As for the price, I feel it is justified. There is enough new material here to warrant the price and I honestly think this is something people will use. I have no problem paying the price for nearly 20 yrs worth of effort, especially when the effort advances the plot. |
