Hey everyone,
I’m packing for a trip where I’ll be performing as part of a multi-performer show, and I may need to swap out the trick I originally planned in order to avoid repetition in the lineup. I’m considering doing the suit jacket escape, but I won’t be checking a bag on this trip. Before I commit to that, I wanted to ask if anyone here has personal experience flying on domestic U.S. flights with the restraint used for this escape in their carry-on. Specifically the oval metal loop with four short lengths of chain and two padlocks. Have you flown with this type of prop in your carry-on without issues? Or have you ever had a problem bringing it through TSA? I’m really just looking for first-hand experience, especially from anyone who’s done this more than once. Also, I’m hoping this thread could become a useful place for people to share personal experiences or ask questions about traveling with props and dealing with TSA in general. That way, if someone has a question about flying with a specific prop, they can check here to see if it’s already been discussed or add their question if it hasn’t. Thanks in advance, I appreciate it. Magic is all around us we just have to be willing to see it.
