In the movie Benny and June, Johnny Depp has a great scene in the park where he's chasing his hat/silent physical comedy like Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplan. Is there any books/vids that teach this aspect of physical comedy, or is it just time to hit BlockBusters and rent the Chaplan/Keaton vids and study those? I would like to add some of this stuff to a busking act to draw a crowd. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Jim

You have the answer.
Or try to look at Clowning books or Mime books in your nearest library. Regards, Budi Ha Ha |

The hat trick (the head pop and the chase) is covered in "The Physical Comedy Handbook" by Davis Rider Robinson.
Getting old videos is great for learning physical comedy too. Don't forget Marx Brothers, Laural and Hardy, Stooges, Fields. George |

Ditto on the Handbook on Physical Comedy.
Thanks for the reminder. I like to reread it every once and awhile. If Kapootz Klowns ever put on a workshop in your area, check it out. They came to Kansas City.(USA) a few years ago. They were very inspirational and boy was I sore after. Harris
