No I am sorry. It is another Unmasked magician. A real professional. Not the above failed wannabe comedian or unmasked clown with 3,234 post.

Get a real job dude. Your family has been asking for it.

Whoa. Someone is showing their true colours. Which ironically confirms my earlier statement about him being a hypocrite for describing us Cafe users not being “fellows” if we are honest and critical regarding new products. Dragging family into insults of someone you don’t know… we are not your fellows indeed.

I see it was reduced to 70 bucks at Penguin. Would love to hear more reviews of its dependability and/or limitations

At 5 years old I think I had a small toy gun that shot rubber bands. It probably cost .50 cents at the time. Who knew it would become a method for mentalism and cost $70

The “official” price is now $60.

I’m trying to find out exactly what happened…

Meanwhile - I did watched the tutorial for this.

My personal feeling is that this particular method will not appeal to the “average” magician / mentalist but it may appeal to some individuals. A method “for the few, not the many”.

At $200 it was a challenging decision; at $60 not so much.

I don’t see how could I properly review this without telling you what it is and how it works.

The gimmick is superbly clever regardless.

Hey guys,

Allow me to interject. Clear the air so to speak.

I was not given this product by Hernan, though I was the first person to purchase it from him at a gathering back in January. Did I like the trick and what I saw then? Yes, I did, that is why I bought it, plus he only had a handful then, this is before Blackpool, and I thought it was different than other PK style effects.

My mention of Banachek in my initial message I got that from someone that told me that Banachek had seen it and thought it was electronic, now we all know that wasnt the case, and Banachek saw the last part of the routine. I did not tell Hernan I would post a review for him, nor have I spoken to him since January when I saw him at the gathering.

Is this something that most of you will use? That depends........I think some will like it, while others may hate it......as is with every product.

Now comes the 100 dollar question. Will I use it? Now that I have had it and practiced with it. No I do not think I will. not that the product is bad, it is actually quite clever, but my performing environments I do not think I will end up using this as intended.

Do I recommend it? It depends on your style and what you want to achieve. For me, though its a cool gadget, I will not use it.

What are the negatives? You cannot show your hand completely empty afterwards.........well sort of, but its hard to explain.

The spectator might not feel anything, it depends on what they are wearing, or how close or far you are to them.

Positives? Gimmicks are easy to find and relatively cheap, so refills are easy to obtain.

Price point: $60.00 I paid $50 for it, when he had not set the price point yet. I think for something like this, it should be around $39.99 with a lot of gimmicks included. $60.00 might be a bit much.

How easy is it to use? Simple, but you will have to put in a bit of practice, and also see how and when you will use this.

For some of you that purchase this, it could, possibly end up at the bottom of the drawer.

This is more like a cool little gadget to pull out at a moments notice and perform it, could be EDC, but it could possibly get damaged, those that have it know why, you have to be a bit careful with it.

Lastly, I get nothing from posting this, just wanted to let you know after the fact that I have had it for the past 4 months what my thoughts were. Most of the time I don't post a review until I actually go out and try it a bunch of times, etc. In this case, since the concept was so new, I wanted to chime in here and let you know about the new product.

Banachek, it was my bad about what I posted of what someone had told me, but now I know the real truth. Thanks for clarifying. I am no journalist, but in the future I will be sure to check my sources before posting something.

All in all, I would give this product the following rating:

Ease of use 8/10
Gimmick cleverness 8/10
Routine 5/10 I didn't get any instructions with mine, so I had to come up with my own routine
Negatives 5/10
Positives 5/10
Price point 5/10
Refills 9/10 can be purchased literally anywhere
Personal use: No
Recommendation: 6-7/10 yes and no, it all depends as I mentioned above

Overall score from a total standpoint: 6-7/10. so about 60-70%, passing, but not a B, or an A, so comes out to about a C-D

It doesn't fail (F) grade, but you can see it can range between a D and a C grade.

All in all, everyone will get a different use out of this or not, it all depends on your performing style and situations, etc.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a thorough review. Your opinion and analysis were very helpful and thoughtful.

One of the questions that hasn't been (properly) addressed IMHO - a watcher cannot see it? At all?

Hey espmagic,

A watcher standing a bit aways will not see anything, if the watcher is close, he might hear something, or if there is no background noise.

The gimmick cannot be seen, no.

I hope I answered your question.

This is some seriously great thinking and I can see it working for some people. For me I will never use it as you don't end clean and if you have dark skin its not going to be easy to use. It can seriously fool people don't get me wrong. You need to figure out your own routine and you need to do it over carpet and not a wood floor "Got caught" I am not disappointed with the effect because I love supporting creators but its going into the drawer a waste of 60 bucks for me.

I ended up taking the plunge even though I never incorporated a PK touches routine into my act. But I do think that this has value as a bonus convincer if used in the right performing environment. This is not to say that if I performed a PK touches routine that this would automatically be incorporated. I feel that it's one of those props that keep in your arsenal for when the right moment comes along. I also don't think you necessarily have to use all three shots during a performance. Perhaps, one or two might be plenty enough. I can also see this an incredible tool for performing in bars where spectators would never find the "you know what".

Of course, there are other useful applications for this prop. For example, to perform a book test with a borrowed book. I guess my point is that if you have an interest in PK touches then this might be a worthwhile prop to own for those special moments.

Heres my review

i can't see me ever using this- I work a lot full time I work every week

the tap needs to hit the skin yet in the video theres a guy in a hoodie- he would never ever feel it in any circumstance
there is no way he would ever feel it even if you were point blank

it needs to hit the skin or back of the head- it wont hurt the volunteer but the touch is barely noticable- it will not penetrate any clothing even the thinnest cloth. I even shot it point blank at my hairy chest and could barely feel it and that's sitting at the desk- in a performance with distractions they are going to miss the touch and you only get 3 shots

and the gimmick itself without revealing it- because of the way you have to "hold it" that back of the hand hand is facing the audience but you really can't show the back of your hand- it has to be somewhat bent/ I would not say clenched but you can't show the full hand

you are essentially quickly pointing at where you want the touch to be-and then making sure the audience doesn't get a good look at the hand I can't see you touching a volunteer and then having the other person feel it. the video instruction you really don't need as you know the concept as soon as you pull it out of the packaging - the video doesn't really help

I do PK touches every week multiple times a week (4-6 times with no gimmicks) I thought this could be a real time touch option I'll never use this. straight into the Haha you got me bin

yes you'll be able to easily find replacements for what touches the spectator and where I perform you will easily be able to see them on the ground.

I don't class this as a professional tool- this is something you'd play with drunk people late after a drinking session

for those who have purchased it and though the same Happy to PM you- I am thinking of cutting mine up and seeing if I can make something more palmable
so it is palmed when shooting and not where it is

Perhaps wearing a PK ring and having it stuck to the inside of your hand (you'll need to add something magnetic to it) instead of where it is so you could show the back of your hand better but even then the touch is extreme light

there are times in a normal touch routine where you touch someone like a tap on the shoulder and for whatever reason they don't feel it- this is SUPER LIGHT - you couldn't rely on this within a paid show- you'd need an out that I suspect you would use that out 70-90% of the time making this unusable and unreliable.

as you will have to figure out a way to do it without using the gimick when it fails you therefore can't rely on it as a ending to your routine

and to be honest- what touches the person - its visible unless you perform where the audience doesn't come up on stage

you wouldn't use this in roving or a parlor show not that I wanted to use it for those conditions-(sometimes in roving the group forms around you so you can do a larger effect but this aint it) really can't use it at a tradeshow- as most people wear suits- you only got the head to aim for

I think this trick was made for the TV special on fool us but no where else would it have any practicle or reliable performance conditions

I have searched high and low for the consumables, but cannot find them anywhere in the size mentioned on the video. If anyone has them sourced, I would greatly appreciate a DM.

Thanks.
