Wholesome coins is a complete different set/ manufacturing process … they are made beautifully! The quarter csb are a waste of money in my experience. I don’t own his half dollar size (copper silver copper is the name iirc) but they also got flamed here on the cafe for being glorified sasco (they were lassen prices /around the same cost at the time)

Well, I ordered the quarter set and now am kind of dreading to see what I receive - its in the mail. I have purchased other Ted Bogusta/Marinka sets (which I believe is who made the quarter set), primarily from Meir Yedid and have not noticed poor workmanship in the past. We shall see?!?!?

Received the set today. Upon extremely close inspection, I do have to say there is a visible seam. But, I do not think it is the seam that is the issue, as much as the thickness of the "wall" of the [. I think the ridges of the imprint of the insert smoothing out over time will allow it to ever so slightly sit deeper and relieve the seam issue. If I wished to monkey with it, I could try and buff those down.
The thickness of the wall is something I am not sure will ever be alleviated. That is simply part of the design. As a coin gets smaller, that gets more pronounced. It is not a knock on craftsmanship but rather a necessary evil of using quarters for this effect. I wonder if a state quarter was used rather than eagle back, if that would assist in these issues? Ultimately, the quarters should never be inspected in this close of inspection. Really, as the effect is performed, it is the color of the coins that the spectators are looking for. It would pass easily in this regard. My set does not have a rattle issue. It does have that [ rubbing coin sound, but that is very much likely my handling at this time. But, that is not a rattle. That is bad handling. Though, it is easy to produce that negative sound. From my very short handling time, there would need to be adjustment as I am used to using half dollar size. The smaller quarter size is just something I would have to get used to. Given proper learning time and practice, this is not a bad set. It is not Sasco by any means. But it is not Lassen, either. At this price point, I wouldn't expect it to be one of those. I would expect in the middle, which this is. I bought this as addition to my magic coin collection, not as a replacement of my performing set. It is a nice addition to that. |

Not going to be long winded here, but I just received my set. The bottom line for me is you’re not going to get busted using this coin set if you’re half way competent. I use Connie Haden’s routine that starts clean and ends clean, so no biggie. With that said, I think the only way you could legitimately say this set is “beautifully machined” is if you are Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles. I worked in a machine shop. This is NOT beautifully machined imo. Mine is headed for fleabay…
