I was just wondering if anyone knows other than PayPal. What would be good
Payment methods to offer on items being sold here on the Cafe? I know paypal is preferred.Unfortunately, my paypal account was hacked two times over fifteen years, and I am a little concerned with using it.Although I was refunded each time. I have some good magic items. I would like to sell to magicians who could use them because I'm doing mentalism. Now full-time and I just don't know how to unload them.
With other payment methods.I hope this is a good place to post this question.

Good magic to all,

Eric

With a strong password and use of a pass key, I would say make another PayPal account with those.

Also change your password for your main email account.

PayPal happens to be the best as their is seller/buyer protection.

Repeated PayPal hacks sounds like it might be an "internet hygiene" issue. Be vigilant about the links you click.
NEVER click an email link from something that looks like PayPal (or anything financial) sent you.
Go direct to the site. It's best to use a saved bookmark so you don't accidentally type something close - the bad guys have registered look alike sites waiting for people to make a typing error.

Venmo is also a payment option that can provide buyer protection, tho it's a part of the same company as PayPal if you have an issue with that.

One more thing.... Keep a low balance in PayPal (or wherever), don't tie it to your main checking account, and keep a low balance in the one you do connect to minimize the risk if something does happen.

Anything can be hacked. If your PayPal account was hacked, what makes you think some other payment app won't be?

Whatever alternate payment method you would choose, two things are important:

1. People have it
2. It offers buyer protection

That's why PayPal is so popular. I have had people try to use Zelle but there is no buyer protection there. The only way I would consider it is if I only paid after receiving my merchandise.

I’ve had a Paypal business card over 25 years and I think it's one of the safest cards I have. Never a problem.

I agree, you should change all your passwords associated with your account.

This is the best advice here in a while. IF something happens the damage is limited.

I have done things like this from the start. I have a couple credit cards with intentionally low limits that I travel internationally with. Every time they try to raise the limit I decline. I want them low to isolate the possible damage.

Having a checking account with not much the and keeping the balance low on the account itself is the same thinking.
