IMO, KeyPad is a small item that will play huge with your audience. I think this is a great release! It would be nice if they offered a discount for those who wanted to purchase more than one unit. I think the impact potential (and FUN) is going to be so good with this along with the size of the unit that carrying a couple of these on your person would not take away much pocket space allowing a couple different reveals with a different person in the group. I typically never see a need to repeat an effect especially at busy paid events where your time is limited in order to get through everybody attending. However, Keypad for me is different, I would love to have the ability to repeat this because I honestly believe people will love not just the reveal moment but will love the novel small tiny Ipad that is going to get great reactions and more importantly laughs!

Thanks! Yeah we are working very hard on getting extra blank KeyPad manufactured, so you’ll be able to repeat it at same event without fear of the same audience seeing same reveal. I’m hoping they’ll be ready in a month.

That's fantastic news. I love the look of this trick. I particularly like the way it's almost a companion piece to the Minibook Pro.

I’ve set up a Facebook group for purchasers to discuss ideas, link now at the end of tutorial.

Also, we are hoping to have blanks sometime next week. If you are in US I’ll also need a few days to get this shipped out to our buddy who ships for us.

If you aren’t sure if KeyPad is for you, we filmed a video with Craig where we show you exactly what you get - https://youtu.be/jcPxHvte0Eo?si=jxhRYizYA5kBtS6I

Recieved mine and have been happily using it. Such a cool piece! Super simple to do as well!

Honestly, initially I saw this and thought I wasn't going to purchase. But, through a very serious event I later realized I had a perfect routine and couldn't help but purchase.

Four weeks ago my Mother suffered a massive stroke. No one was with her at the time and miraculously she realized the symptoms and tried calling 911. Discovering that her hands didn't work and she couldn't dial the phone, she brilliantly thought to use Siri and use it to get help. She spoke to her phone, it recognized what she was saying and within minutes a life squad arrived and took her to the hospital. She was administered the blockage busting medication timely. Three days later was released with no permanent impairments and having to do no physical therapy. Nothing. Siri literally saved her life. Sorry to bum everyone out with that tale. But it is true. She was even on several news channels that interviewed her about the use of technology saving her. She is kind of a local celebrity right now.

Where does the routine come in? Well, I am a die hard android user. I won't buy an apple product. Jokingly, after the events transpired I said that even though Siri did what it did, it still wouldn't sway me to own an apple product. KeyPad is the common ground. Mom got on me and got on me some more to own at least SOMETHING apple so I could take advantage in an emergency situation like she did. I got the key chain version... it makes mom happy and let's me sleep at night knowing I don't have to swap my phone for an apple. And then I go into the routine.

I want to get another blank so I can quickly perform again. But, overall, I am very happy with this purchase! (And it really isn't an apple product, so I can sleep at night! Lol)

Sorry to hear about your mom, but glad to hear she survived & recovered, what a story! (And I think your patter is awesome in regards to KeyPad).

I’m still waiting for mine in the mail. It was stuck in Florida for a week, but should arrive soon.

But when it does arrive, I was planning to combine it with Rich Eddins’ Blackpool release, “Sketch Artist”, and with a deck of movie cards (Nikolas Mavresis’ “CineMental”).

I don’t have DFB or Inertia Pro, but have considered investing into one or both of these to go along with KeyPad and Sketch Artist.

Thanks CrimeAnalyst. Glad she is okay, too!

Mine got held up in Florida for a few days as well. But once it started moving all was well.

I am using DFB. Truthfully, I've had that for a while and have not found a use for it that I cared for. Not that it isn't an incredible tool, just nothing paired with it for me. I think it is the perfect companion to KeyPad. I can see where the movie cards would work. If you were inclined to go fully digital with this, I would solidly recommend DFB.

Thanks for all the love for KeyPad folks and for waiting patiently.

So Roddy is working feverishly on the KeyPad blanks. I’m hoping to have them on website midweek for immediate despatch. Few days longer for US as I’ll need to ship them to our buddy who posts out products in US but rest of world will be available midweek.

If we are in the United States, can we go ahead and order blanks, or should we wait? Didn’t know if that made a difference or not.

As a hobbyist with beginner level magic skills, I highly recommend KeyPad for anyone who doesn’t have it yet.

I describe myself exactly as you described yourself: a hobbyist with beginner level magic skills. Sleight of hand is out of the question. I’ve tried practicing and performing various sleights through the years, but could never get them down. It’s a real crutch, too. When looking at descriptions of magic tricks on an online retailer’s web site, I have to keep in mind that the description writer’s perception is different than mine. For example, “No knuckle-busting moves required” to me means “Not difficult for experts, but impossible for people like me.” When I see “No sleights”, to me that means “Maybe no sleights, but plenty of ‘MOVES’ that I probably can’t do.” That brings us to the word “Moves”, which to me means “No traditional sleight of hand here, but still has manipulations that I probably can’t do.” The closest thing I’ve found suitable for my abilities is the phrase “Self-working”. To me, this means “The props and gimmicks do most of the work, but I’ll still have to hope that I can do whatever is necessary with my hands.” Would you believe I have loads of trouble doing a double lift? And pinky break - forget it. Palming - I wish. False shuffles and cuts - in my dreams. False counts - in my nightmares. And Mercury Fold? Only people who live on the planet Mercury can do that.

Which brings me to Keypad. The “moves” truly are moves and not sleights, as experts would define them. I can do them with Keypad! I would barely call them moves. So not only is Keypad easy enough for someone like me, but simplicity of performance in no way deters from the effect. This is a clever device that uses what I call ‘Reverse gimmicking”. That means that instead of the trick starting with the gimmick “deactivated” and then “activating” the gimmick to complete the performance, it’s the other way around. The gimmick starts activated, then performance deactivates it, leaving a clean ending that allows the iPad replica to be examined until the end of time with no switches.

I love this for what it is: simple yet effective and fun. A trick doesn’t need the likes of Shin Lim to perform it in order for it to impress. Keypad proves that.

Jla930, you have no idea how helpful you have just been!! Your description of what you go through reading ads about tricks is exactly like me! And I am guessing plenty of other casual hobbyists as well. Thanks for the excellent synopsis of what we go through and thanks for specifically letting us know that keypad will work for us!!

Thank you so much for the kind words, samdan. I realize that magic is an art and not a science, and therefore levels of ability, and their corresponding descriptions, are more subjective than objective. Nevertheless, I’m glad to see others like you step forward and justify our presence in the magic community.

Thanks so much! KeyPad is ounce for ounce, one of the easiest and most powerful tricks you can do. Glad you live as much as we do.

I've been using this differently. I looked over the included photos and just felt like I could use the Matrix theme to my advantage. At my club meeting, I started by just showing the "iPad micro" and asking if they wanted to see something. As the spectator holds the iPad in their hand, I raise my hands palm up, fingers closed, in Morpheus' position. I pause, open my hands and say, what if I offered you a choice. I've learned to stop right there, because you can get a hit just from that from fans of the movie. If you see that spark of recognition, lay your favorite line on them and have them open their hands. When it hits at this stage, you have a bloody miracle. I tried it on a retired magician who hadn't seen it. Not so much. Duly noted, age matters.

I've since refined the patter after, what if I offered you a choice,,, Next line is, "Does the story end or do you stay in wonderland?" If that sparks, you still have a really good effect. After that, I simply say, "Blue pill or the Red Pill?" Even then, this still plays well or better. I sense this won't play for EVERYONE, so spectator choice matters here, but I'm not using a force necessarily, so that should be expected.

I tried this on my kids and got a different reaction as I unconsciously moved my hands up and down, palm up, and got the 6-7 response that I am all too familiar with as a middle school teacher. Rather than being annoyed, I will use this to my advantage. I have printed out the appropriately sized 6-7 photo with hands to put on my keypad blanks.

I am confident that using Keypad to reveal a 6-7 force by simply doing the 6-7 hand thing in front of them will get massive reactions from the younger crowd. Now combine this with an initial Matrix hit followed by a 6-7 reveal when you go like this with your hands... I can feel how big those reactions are going to be, fun!

Food for thought...
Know that adversity is promised to all of us, what we do with it is what makes us special.
