Get Barber Half Dollars. They are generally soft.

Long time back now I was in Colorado and stopped by an old coin shop in a beautiful little mountain surrounded town called, Durango.. They had a jar full of old Walking Liberty halves. They were pretty worn but extremely soft and fairly cheap. I bout 5 or 6 of them to practice with. Now, I mention this because while they might not have been as nice as some other prepared softened halves, they always played well to the specs who didn’t particularly care beyond the fact that they were just a few magical, old silver coins. And since they were petty smooth, they made no noise and were nice to manipulate as needed. Still got them around here somewhere.
