Ha, you can maybe do a spellbound routine and turn it into a coin to do some magic that works. I think selling it on the fact that coin magic is dead and then using an item less common than coins seems an odd selling point. The thing is knowing how to do coin magic sleights you can do countless effects with other small items. I use £5 coins. No one comments on the fact that I use a coin that has never been in circulation. They just comment on how I'm vanishing a coin as big as my fist.

I like this, it has a tongue in cheek aspect that I enjoy in magic.

I recall a coin routine by John Bannon where he's transforming coins but uses the premise that he's not transforming them he's doing a coins across to another country. So instead of a half dollars changing to Chinese coins he says he's actually transposing coins internationally. I love that idea and this has that sort of vibe.

I'll never do either but always liked the premise.

I was also curious about the “depth” of the gimmick. How does it look in “real life”?
