I'm tempted by this one, if there is a formula to go from date to playing card that's easy to learn. Not clear from the ad copy if you have to rely on a crib. Anyone know the answer? |

Bob Farmer was due to have a similar effect released called Tarot Book of days. He is referenced as providing bonus routines for this effect.

Interesting.
I could see myself gigging this if there's a simple formula to know the card, once you know the date. Here's hoping! |

I can watch someone perform the exact same thing, pick it up one time through, and think, "why didn't they just say that!?!" But, that is a fault to me, not the magic creator. As to the question posed above, there is memorization required. Not much, but some. Nothing at all difficult. I don't want to tip the method more than that. |

Thanks both.
I used to do Gordon Diary, so I'm used to converting dates into playing cards in my head. If I can do the same with this, and don't need to rely on a crib, I'm probably gonna give it a shot. |

I have the original Fortune Teller Book of Days. I really don't want to buy it again just for the new tutorials or handlings...any way that he could have us see the tutorials as a free update? I mean, the tutorials won't mean anything without the book...just hoping

My final post on this (with apologies if I haven't been clear about my requirements!)
What I'm looking for is a system where I can quickly calculate the card, when I know the date. No cribs or stacks. Eg 13 December might convert to Queen of Diamonds (1+ 3 = 4, which is a Diamond when suits are in CHaSeD order, and December has value of 12, which is the value of a Queen). So as soon as I hear the date, I know the card. Does Tarot book use this kind of system? Thanks! |

Whilst I like the idea the book is a bit big making it less practical than other diary type effects.

I used to perform Paul Green's original once in a while back during my restaurant table-hopping days. Paul's Fortune Teller's book was nicely produced, but for some odd reason I never felt that it looked 'normal' enough to look like something you'd find in a book shop. It felt like I was handling a magician's prop. I once mentioned this to a magician friend, but he really enjoyed performing with his and claimed that he got great reactions. My reactions didn't quite match his level...It felt more like "filler". So, I eventually sold mine.
The newer version appears to be an improvement over the original and I do like that they included a paperback version for strolling. Although, I wish it was a bit more pocket friendly at maybe 3" x 5", but that's a small quip. Still, I just don't know if carrying this is worth the pocket real estate space namely because at the end of the day, it's a personal experience for just one individual (his/her birthday). The other spectator's watching won't be quite as engaged if you get my drift. Don't get me wrong, for the reasonable price, this might still be worth owning. But if I do decide to take the plunge, I just don't know how I would get enough use from it. |

So the name of the book is the name of the trick. Thank god nothing like Google exists so a curious audience member looks it up after a performance.

There is a glaring misspelled word on the back of the book. Very obvious when displaying the book to the audience.
Also, the ad copy says a spectator can name any card. This does not seem accurate. Is it basically just an update of the old version with a newer book? |
