John Riggs died early this morning of metastatic cholangiocarcinoma.
John/Jon will be sorely missed. He was a brilliant creator, top-notch entertainer, and a warm & caring person. He performed one of the funniest acts ever seen at a PEA gathering, produced the world-renowned family of "bug boards", and authored a vast array of insightful books and recordings. And those of us who attended his Las Vegas wedding at the Little White Chapel will never forget it. Another giant has left the building.

I don't believe I ever met him as a person, but I feel like I knew a little of what he was like through his writings. You are right; another giant has joined the others on the Big Rock Candy Mountain.

Rest in Peace Brother John...
The last time I broke bread with John I was on a solo cross country motorcycle ride. John met me at a local diner for the gift of gab...

John was a solid dude.....
When I wrote the 'Safwan Papers' years ago I reached out to some of the "big names" in mentalism. I was SHOCKED at the overwhelming responses, advice, & quality of the material offered, and several have become close aquaintences. Several have now passed, and I'm sorry to learn that now John has, as well. John was more than generous, and will certainly be missed! Bryn

He was quite something. His output is a goldmine of useful stuff that has stood the test of time. Only Bob Cassidy possibly wrote and created as much as John. Possibly.

It is a sad day. I never met him. but he influenced me greatly with his great humor and desire to do miracles, not just pixy trix.
I combine mentalism and humor, a lot because of him. Part of me is living large like him, not holding back with the wild stories and miracles of mentalism. thanks John, if only I could have met you!!! |
