There have been periods of ash falling like snow. It's pretty surreal.

That's awful. Have you seen any relief agencies in the area yet? All these people are going to need some help.

Yes there's been a FEMA emergency declared and several resource centers including free childcare centers.
There are currently nearly 2,000 firefighters in the area from across the country and even Australia. I think Red Cross has had a couple million dollars donated. The people who lost their homes are the clear priority. We're hoping some lost wage assistance becomes available as well but I'm sure that's further down the line. Last I heard there have been no known deaths or significant injuries which is pretty miraculous.

A consolation is that she went peacefully in her sleep but it's still rough. Been through a lot with that cat.
