Yeah, I was hoping Beyond the Veil or the update to the PDF would be the update that would solve my issues with the set, but nope.
The update did not contain a new "Readings" section. The Beyond the Veil did not bring the interviews with psychics I was hoping for.

I am really wondering why there was a road trip at all. Sure, the documentary was entertaining to watch, but had no real depth. And some of the performances and explanations were filmed during the roadtrip, but why? They could have easily be performed elsewhere.

I guess I am just feeling salty and let down with the purchase - I really did expect more, but that's on me.

Hmmmm. BTV does not sound like the "gift" I was hoping for.

The videos provided with the kit were fine if strangely produced. (Here is Peter explaining Mentalism while he does his laundry at the laundromat, two guys in a field, etc), Now they are starting to release the info in bits and spurts. That info has currently been provided only to backers (no problem with that), but it would be nice to have heard something more. Disappointing. I probably won't be paying extra for this release now.

Peter mentioned on one of his videos that taking a road trip across the US was one of the items on his bucket list. So that may have been his motivation for the trip. I could be wrong, but filming it and using the footage as part of a product may have been a way to kill two birds with one stone. And have the product sales pay for the cost of the trip.

It is odd that Beyond The Veil does not contain and interviews with the psychics they met on the trip. In one of my storage boxes I have a set of 3 DVDs that is entirely interviews with practicing psychics readers, explaining what they do and how they do it. I never got around to watching those and will now have to dig them out if I can find them.

It sounds like most of us were expecting a heavier focus on giving readings, and a lot more focus on what working psychics are actually doing across the U.S. I know I would have appreciated more uncut performance footage but most of it is in the trailer. Performances are primarily studio versions. I don't recall the whisper from the sales page being taught or shown either, but I've only gone through the full project once so far and may have missed it. A lot of things were brief discussions among other topics and not highlighted in a performance/teaching context.

I'm pretty sure I have a set of old dvds from Mark lewis where he interviewed a lot of people working at a psychic fair. I'll have to dust them off and have another look now. I don't recall the content so probably didn't find them very useful. Stuart Cumberlands interviews were great and I revisit them at least once a year. John Riggs cradle to grave series is a favorite I go back to often.

It is really hard to find video of other readers sitting with clients and doing a full reading. Even searching through YouTube there is very little content showing live interaction. That would be highly useful for someone starting out to watch a stream of quick entertainment readings followed by a breakdown of the readings.

There are just so many moving parts within the reading process that it's a hard one to teach. Much of it is intuitive and instinctual that comes from experience and speaking from within the flow. Still I would love to see a product where someone tried to break that down coupled with footage of a live interaction with a client.

Once you learn the basics, I'm sure most of us just go out and get a few readings from working psychics. You'll probably quickly realize you can do as good or better even being inexperienced. The best readings I've gotten , as well I think the ones I've given, were great because of the depth of rapport and ease of conversation much more so than hits or oracular accuracy. It's all about the quality of conversation.

Agree the Stuart Cumberland interviews are really good. There's also a video Richard Webster put out with Brian Flora in 1988, "The Richard Webster Video Techniques For Psychics" where he gives readings to two different women. The first reading is about 40 minutes long, using palm reading and numerology. The second is a brief 5 minute Tarot reading. At the beginning of the video, Richard says he does not teach how to give readings in this video and refers the viewer to a number of his books to learn how. The video is a fantastic supplement to his books as you get to see Richard in action.
