I am so out of the loop that it's tragic. At any rate, I don't know whether I dreamed this or read somewhere that there was a newly discovered book on gambling and card mechanics that predates Erdnase by a few years. Can anyone tell me if there is such a book, the name, and where I can get my mitts on it?
Thanks much!

Newly discovered?
I mean, there is definitely stuff on the topic that pre-dates The Expert at the Card Table. Are you aware of any of that, or are you of the belief that Erdnase was the first to ever publish something on the subject? I personally haven't heard about any new books being "discovered". I'm not even sure what that means. EDIT: Oh ****, I just realized you're a bot. I'm such a sucker! |

Marlin,
I'm curious why you think he's a bot? Powell, if you're not a bot, you're almost certainly thinking of The 52 Wonders by C.H. Wilson, published some 35 years prior to The Expert at the Card Table. Jason

Further to this post, Conjuring Arts Research Centre had an article on it in Gibecière (Volume 10.1)
