LF quality locking spirit slates around 12" x 10". looking for a classic wood and blackboard feel. It doesn't have to look like furniture, the more common, the better. Also hoping it won't break the bank.

It seems that all the reviews I see say they are ill-fitting, loud, or cheaply made. They all look great in the photos.

Any recommendations for something you've gotten that you liked?

I haven been using The Ragged School Slates by Lebanon Circle.
The best of the best. No move and completely silent.
Also, the chalk sound makes everything convincing.

Thank you underthetree.

Possible typo? Have or haven't?

Have you seen and tried them in person?

They are out of stock. When they were available and now on secondary market they run around $500.

You don't mention which ones you've seen. They do not seem as common these days. Amazon has a set, Madhatter has a set, I'm sure ebay has some. You might just have to take a punt and return if necessary.

I may have an extra set of locking slates if I can find them. I will try to look in the next couple of days.

I just found a new unused set of Maverick's Dr. Q spirit slates. Here is a link that describes them. https://www.martinsmagic.com/allmagic/me......k-magic/
I cannot find the directions but I can send along a copy of the Venture III directions if you want. Write me direct and I can give you the price.
I did find half of another set, one slate but no flap. I will keep looking.

Richard,

I can't see a "send P.M." on your profile page. Could you PM me?

Have you used this kind of Slate?

I'm looking for recommendations about slates that have worked well and are a good value.
