Don't flick too hard and just catch the very corner of the card. I use an elastic IT as it seems a little more forgiving.
Practice, as always......

I'm not sure offhand if they are in the manuscript, but some of the moves Geno Munari's demo guys (and gals) use for their UFO effect are really worth checking out. In particular the way they handle a coin. They take advantage of a phenomenon that I guess involves centrifugal force to make it appear that there really is no attachment point on the coin.
The UFO is their spin on the hummer card. Pun intended Dr Magic .. I know they are at Houdini.com, but I don't see the trick there. Oh well! |

Two good sources of information are John LeClaire's "Who's Afraid of Invisible Thread?" DVD and his companion book "The Art of Invisible Thread" which I'm currently reading. It is great to gain insight from someone with real world experience on the idiosyncrasies of thread and how to wind up on top.

This is a good effect wif a good amount of practice.
Took me awhile to get it down. Especially the round the world part. Looks pretty flashy |

I like the Hummer card a lot and have never really had any problems. Maybe it is just a matter of practice.
