I was wondering, say I am waiting in line for a restaurant or something and its pretty busy in the waiting room (you know, all those bored faces wondering when there party will be called), what kind of tricks or what tricks in specific would be good to perform here to people, and how should I approach them....help would be appreciated.

If you have, "The Very Best of Jay Sankey 1," try, "Diehard Opener." Very visual and fast paced.

Morgan Streblers "The Opener" would be great. In fact, I just did the very thing while waiting to be called to our table. Played it up that I just happened to find a paper clip on the floor. People's mouths just dropped! Simple effect but plays big!

Anything using impromptu objects: elastic bands, pens, coins, etc. Some tricks can be applied to hundreds of objects. For example two in the hand, one in the pocket can work with sponge, paper, coins, sweets, anything!
The above list should be enough for an hour of waiting in line. If the line is any longer than that then here's a few more. lethal tender sponge balls 3d bunnies (a real reaction maker) raven ring flight stealing someones watch (if you can master that) ambitious card card on ceiling |

The tricks have to be super fast or modular because as soon as there name is called they are out of there. Also try to play the tricks to at least 2 groups that way if one group does leave you can still finish with the 2nd goup. I would use cmh, 1 coin stuff, bill switch, etc.

The Opener is a new Instant Download from Penguin. Take a paper clip, "focus all your energy toward the paperclip" and make the paper clip bend all the way around, but you stop about a half inch away from where you started. You then come out of deep state of concentration and hand the spectator the bent paperclip. Really great as an opener. The method is simple, but leaves them astonished.

Try doing the Shinko's Twisting Arm Illusion if dressed with the proper attire.
If you seek tricks that can be done in these situations that are totally impromptu, I suggest you take Routined Impromptu Magic. This is magic that can be done anytime, anywhere with anything. For the most part a lot of the tricks mentioned require a table. People waiting for their table or for the rest of the party to arrive are not at a table.
So here are a few ideas. Yes get the Greg Wislon videos a very good idea. Crazy Mans Handcuffs Copper/Silver Hopping Half Invisible Deck The Kiss Trick (my effect) But another idea would be to give them a puzzle to play around with until their table is called. The "tying the rope without letting go of the ends" trick is one idea. Or even this... How about just talking with them and making them feel comfortable till their table is called. Remember you are not just there to do magic. You are the ambassador of good will. Make there stay (and wait) more enjoyable Shaun R.

Just keep it quick and direct with singular effect. And don't be afraid to stop in the middle and back off so that they can get their table.

MagicMan5150 - thanks for answering my questions that I forgot I wrote.
How hard is it to do? Do you switch, before giving it out?
