The Sight Unseen Case by Mark Strivings: Having just received this wonderful gimmick I would like to ask those who uses it what your best effect is with this gimmick (not asking to the methods since we are all aware of those - but simply the effect/The Patter.) So of course we will refrain from discussing any methods.
So what is the effect that gives you the biggest impact with the SUC. I would imagine that a lottery type effect would be quite impressive. Patter: Please write your initials on the front of this Business card. I will now write 3 lottery numbers on the other side." Insert it to the SUC. Then ask 3 individual specs to imagine ten balls from 0 to 9 popping up and they are grabbing 1. So spec 1, the first number is etc. etc. Also simple mind reading. Patter: Think of a person or something dear to you. Please write it down on the back of this business card. This you are doing out of 2 reasons. Firstly to focus your mind on the name/thing whatever you are thinking of, and secondly so that you cannot change your mind afterwords and let me look like a complete amateur. I'll insert it into this business card holder to keep me from looking at it, but at the same time to feel its presence. bla, bla, bla pretending some pumping before you actually peek. Bingo. But what's is your favorite use of it? _________________ "Presentation and patter is to the mentalist, what sleight of hand is to the magician" |

Strivings' wordless book test is one of my faves.
....Write a prediction, fold it and put it on the table visible for everyone. Let a spectactor think of a word, write it down, fold the paper and put it in the wallet. When your word is read, it shows to match the spectactor's. Note: YOU write your prediction before the spectactor writes her word. Banachek's take on use of the SUC is also incredibly clever.

Hi guys,
So you know, there is a book in the works of effects for the SUC (both versions) that features work from my many friends all over the world. I don't have a projected publication date at this point but am hopeful to have it out before the end of the year. I you have an effect or handling with the SUC that you would like to have considered for inclusion in this collection, drop me a note offlist at MarkyApril@aol.com and let's talk. All contributors will receive a complimentary copy of the book when it comes out. It looks to be an incredible collection and if you have the SUC you WILL want this book. As of this writing, the only other printed resource is "The Unseen Edition" which is a small booklet I wrote several years ago. It contains six different effects and also includes some samples of specially printed business cards I have used over the years with the SUC. Drop me a note for more info. Contact me if you have something special with the SUC. You just could have your name preserved in mentalism history! (Too much? I dunno. ) Mark Strivings

One of my faves is The Wordless Booktest, as explained in one of Mark's SUC booklets.
Write something on a slip of paper, and leave the folded paper slip openly on the table. A spectactor writes a thought of word (without revealing it, and this paper slip is left in the wallet. Give your prediction to a spectactor to read, and ask the first spectactor what word he thought of. The thought of word and the word in your prediction are identical. Banachek's Invisible Palm Computer Routine is another really cool routine. Try it!

I mainly use the SUC just for a direct mind read of a name, place in history, etc. Works great! Works great with pocket writing effects as well.

I've been thinking about buying a SUC and was a bit surprised to see that ronjo.com sells the first edition of the SUC but not "Generation II".
How do owners of both think they compare?
