Is it possible to make my regular mini-baseball a gimmicked one for the chop cup routine? And how?

I don't think you can do it on one of the baseballs as an aftermarket modification, unless you can figure out how to restitch it. It's probably more feasible to purchase them.
Jedinat in Germany has them. Also, I think Joe Stevens may have some Mike Rogers baseballs in sets for the chop cup. Watch out for people who are gouging on the prices of Mike Rogers baseballs. They are still being made and are available at lower prices than some of the eBay offerings.

I have 2 sets of the mini chop cup baseballs.
I paid $15 buckeroos at the magic store per pair. They are 1". It could be possible by somehow making a small hole in the leather, doing the work, and then repairing the small hole with stuff and things. If you don't mind experimenting, you could try that and it might end up looking just right. Might take a few tries but it would be easier than re-stitching. If you do get the real thing, and if they're like mine, they are VERY friendly balls and take a SEVERE liking to a standard chop cup. ***WHACK*** I found that either a pringles can or my chop cups, or one of Jim Risers future cups work best with the mike rogers baseballs. My leather chop cups -- the ones that Mike Swarc made for me work best with the Mike Rogers Baseballs. But they were made specifically for them.
Frank's idea was really good, though. Take BOTH balls, and using a "strike" leather punch, make a hole in EACH ball, in the same place. Do the work on the one ball, adjusting it, so it works perfectly, then glue the piece back in place on both balls. Now find a logo of some type, such as Rawlings, or Spalding, etc., even your favorite team, and apply that to the spot. Or use some kind of sealant that is white in color. But both balls must look the same.

Why not, if the cup has the magnet, stick some needles and/or pins in around the stitching?

Thanks for all your suggestions. What worries me is that I obviously need the right amount of metal/magnet in the ball in order to be able to do the routine. I guess I will have use the old "test and fail" method.
