What a RUSH!!!!!

What happened today was actually beyond my normal expectations!

The situation is/was this...

I've been asked to do a short act and an appearance of a celebrity at a major fundraiser in less than two weeks from now...

As the event is a major one, having more than 50 top artistes from various disciplines contributing (I'm the only Magi though...), there was a Press Conference (PC) held today at a Major Hotel to spread the news, so to speak... All the major media branches were there as I saw it...

I was initially a bit intimidated and overwhelmed by it all... Imagine me, a little known Magician, amongst my country's "best of the best" singers, actors, fashion designers etc.!

However, after the the PC, there was the obligatory afternoon tea outside the main hall...

Now here comes the the GOOD part!

Amongst others, there were a bunch of Malaysia's version of "American Idol" contestants present.(For you guys in M'sia, it's the Akademi Fantasia kids!) They've been in the Press a LOT lately, as such I was a little "shy" to start a conversation, so to speak... But one of 'em was really nice and we started talking and I told him I was the Magician for the upcoming show...

So...

He asked me to show him some Magic!

Within 5 minutes, I had attracted a small group to my "impromptu" Magic show! I actually had newspaper cameramen snapping away as I did, among other things, Dan Harlan's "Starcle" for a popular female singer!

I couldn't believe it! I FLOORED THEM WITH EVERYTHING!

I'm into illusions mainly but have picked up close-up and stage stuff that I like along the way... These were good (imho) but today, they were AMAZING! They were literally ASTOUNDED by my routines!

I even managed to pull off some COLD READING! Hah! I never get away with that! And those were the ones I got just from Blaine's "Mysterious Stranger"! You shoulda seen the guy's reaction when I did the "scar on the knee" revelation! Priceless!

I did "CMH", DC'S "Twisting Hand" from "Tornado...", my version of Coins Across, Dan Harlan's fabulous "Starcle" (Thanks Dan!) and they LOVED it! Even my "broken finger" routine when well with these guys! I'm not kidding you, I hardly believe it myself!

Remember, some of the audience were the most well known faces in Malaysia! It really was "surreal" man! I've had a HUGE CRUSH on one the singers for a long time (she's just smokin' HOT!), and there I was STARING into her eyes as I read her mind! Oh my God, can you believe it!

I'm on cloud nine now!

If this is anything to go by, the upcoming show will be GREAT! Don't wanna have my hopes up "too high", BUT DANGNAMMIT! That was a RUSH!

I hope you collected business cards for contacts and went to a walmart and got a camera and had someone take some pictures... For promo for more shows.

I can see that it was a great time and I hope you get more work from it.

Way to go there. Now you understand why I keep telling you that you need to learn close-up and stage stuff even if you want to specialize in illusions as an illusionist. They are for moments like these.

Sounds like you had one of those "memorable for life" moments (aren't they great?)

I did the "scar on the knee" for a neighborhood kid once, even hitting on what had caused it. He had hurt his knee THAT DAY, and when I mentioned a skinned knee, he went into thunderstruck mode and unconsciously reached for his left knee. "...your LEFT knee..." I went on. At that moment his jaw fell so hard as to fracture the pavement.
