Just to clarify my post, I don't think the deck makes me a better performer, I just like it because of the presentation possibilities and the fact that some fans and flourishes look better with a black deck.

I just pulled out my 2 decks and both faroed nicely.
I wonder about the twisted Ace of Spades. Is anyone using that for something spectacular? |

I heard that tiger decks are good for coasters to set your beer on while you practice with a regular deck.

Could they be used for a color changing deck routine, Changing a black tiger deck to a real deck?

Hey, Glenn, thanks for the idea! The Tigers are all negative images, right? So a "camera" illusion makes a great premise.
Magus: "Of course, the developed film comes out negatives (show BT) so now we need to print them." ("Prints" a regular deck.) "Oh, did you say you wanted wallet-size?" ("Prints" a mini-deck.) I love it! Craig Anderson |

Good thing I caught it before I printed the deck as I "twist" the ace back into alignment. (color change using the Tiger regular Ace Spades.)As a short diversion in a mental photography deck, (a negative image) I see a lot of potential.

Sorry I didn't see your earlier post, Rob. You DID think of it first!

This deck should only be bought as a collectible, If you perform with this deck for your audience it already sreams GIMMICK no matter what you do.

I don't use it as a deck; only stranger cards and negatives for the routine above. Otherwise the deck is useless if you are not a flourisher. As a regular deck of cards, any magic you do is credited to the cards and not your abilities with them because the spec thinks the cards are doing the trick for you.
You can puul off the most amazing magic and the spec will say, "Let me see the cards!"

I have had absolutely no trouble at all faro-ing Black Tiger decks of either run.
I made a couple of all-black faced ones using a magic marker. I added the "necessary" to the backs of a couple of cards and used them to perform Rainbow Cascade. But they aren't going to replace my regular cards.

This has been an interesting thread. I expect my BT decks to arrive today. I'll add my 2 cents when they do.

I have found the "voodoo" effects play off these cards VERY well!
I do think that the cards hold some amount of mystery within them! (mystery, I think, is more accurate than suspician)After my performance I allow the specs to hold, and examine the cards.(if they want to) Warning them to be careful of course! And you'de be suprised how many times they are hesitant of taking them! Fun stuff! Don't discard these decks until you REALLY experiment with them! I believe they have a lot to offer! |

Shoosh018- The voodoo angle sounds very interesting. Without revealing too much of your routine, could you
elaborate a bit on how you use this in your show or offer some suggestions on a spooky use for the BT decks? |

If you use a blacklight, the cards do look very cool. I find they are more of a novelty item though.

I would only pick up decks with red pips, otherwise its really hard to tell which suit is which.

I don't have this yet, but my mind is RACING with what to do with it!
I love visual magic that has bizzare changes! I think the BT Deck would do so well in the Haunted Deck application of Loops - I think it would freak them out, more so than usual. Also, carry the deck in a beat up old box of cards and tell the audience that this deck has been cursed, etc. I think they'd beleive you. Especially with how freaky all the queens would look. Where can I get the red pipped cards? Take care, Logan

An Erdnase color change with the skewed ace of spades looks great as well.
Carl Andrews (I think) has a photographic effect that uses the FISM flash. These cards would be perfect for that. A color change within a black tiger deck doesn't work well but a color change from a regular deck to a black tiger does (card to card or deck to deck). Dress up as a reverse image of yourself for Halloween and perform with a black tiger deck (especially under blacklight)! Use your imagination! Craig

Got my BT decks in. They both have a very cool look to them but the red pipped ones are much more eye-catching and there is no mistaking the spades for the hearts. They have a good feel to them but no more than any other well made deck of cards would be. I think their use could be diverse, unique, and interesting given some imagination. Maybe they're not for everybody but I'm very happy with this purchase.
By the way, Logan, I got them at: http://www.ellusionist.com |
