Hi guys after recently doing a bit of strolling magic I realised how crucial it is to have your props set up sensibly in your pockets etc. so I am intrigued into whats your set up like and how do you cope?

Hi Tom
I use a bum bag for the bigger ones and my jacket pockets and set the same stuff in the same place for every gig. RH jacket - normal deck, colour change routine, £5 coin and finger flash unit. LH jacket - Footprints deck and a "MY Card" trick. Toppit - Profs nightmare and a sponge computer mouse. Bum Bag - 5in half dollar, sponge balls, flash wool, torn deck, shrinking deck, pen for balloons, breath mints and thumb tips. Inside jacket Qty two ITRs Paula

Paula,
I feel safer already. No C-4! You know, after a while, if something gets into the wrong place, it is the same as lost. My left coat pocket is always blue backed cards. I used the Twisted Deck first one night felt like I had on someone else's coat the rest of the evening! Before I work, I also empty my pockets of car keys etc. More than once I have gotten to my car and couldn't get in. Rope shears go into my coat breast pocket. Adjusting them makes it so easy to ditch a coin, billet, or TT. Bob Magic By Sander |

I have my sponge balls in my trouser pockets, 3 in the right and 1 in the left. In my right trouser pocket I also have some flash paper and a lighter, which I use to produce the first sponge ball. (my 3d bunnies are out of action at the moment, I usualy use these rather than sponge balls I should say). In my back pocket I have ring flight.
I have my kaps wallet on my inside left jacket pocket, and my inside right pocket has a long card (10/3 of hearts) and an insurance policy. My right jacket pocket has a klamm pocket organiser, to which I cram in "night out with the girls," colour changing pen knives, coin in bottle, 3 half dollars, 3 different wiregrams and coin unique. my left jacket has a different coloured pack of cards to the one I'm holding (both reglar decks), a sharpie thru anything, a regular sharpie, a packet trick (i try and change it each week if I am working a restaurant with regular customers.) my breast pocket contains a heap of business cards, a regular pen (to write down potential bookigns etc...cant use a sharpie can I!), some mints - usually tic tacs so I can do tic tac coin, and my mobile phone. and on my wrist I have 6-10 elastic bands! see http://www.klamm-magic.com/cgi-bin/web_s......match=on for the klamm organiser |

Deck of cards in right hand pocket, double backer in shirt pocket, rubber bands on wrist, hopping half alternates from right to left pants pocket & color changing knives & voodoo doll in left vest pocket, depending on the crowd either b'wave or traffic signals will share space with the deck of cards.
Some think it is tacky to have the rubberbands on the wrist, but I get an extrA LINE out of it ( you see the the rubberbands allow me to shoot the cards up my sleeves which they believe until they realize I have short sleeves on. |

I worked for about 1.5 years with stuff in my pockets. I would load them each time I got to the gig. A few months ago I got 2 Klamm pocket organisers. Now All I have to do is load a deck of cards and my chop cup items. The organisers stay in my coat pockets. It makes it really nice. I did line them with cardboard to make them stiffer. I really like these. Plus when I go to the cleaners all I have to do is pull out the organiser.
Nothing of the same will bring any change, take action today!
Just taking a step, is a step in the right direction because when you stop working, your dream dies. www.magicalmemories.us |
