I subscribe to it, I read it, I'm disappointed by it. But do I cancel my subscription? Not on your life, buddy!
My favorite artist is Aragones. When Mad takes a look at it...so do I. What say you? P. Differ
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy; The way into my parlour is up a winding stair, And I've a many curious things to show when you are there. Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain, For who goes up your winding stair -can ne'er come down again. |

Mad used to be one of my favorite Magazines. Since the death of William Gaines I have not read much of the Magazine.
I like the Political side of the Magazine as well as the artwork. Iven

I used to love it,too, but haven't bought a copy for years. It used to poke fun at everything, including itself, but it's just not as funny anymore.
I still page through old issues and have about twenty pockets I re-read regularly. |

Oh please! Don Martin quit working for Mad years before he died and started working for Cracked. Still, Mad was a staple of my childhood... ok, my adulthood as well!

"Oh please," my kiester; when Don Martin left, a major facet of what made MAD great was gone.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Then there was the decline of Prohias "Spy vs. Spy" and Dave Berg's son taking the helm of "The Lighter Side of..." What was taken away by resignations and deaths was greater than what was added to try to fill the gaps. MAD is a pale shadow of what it once was. Steve

Well... Prohias died, can't be helped. Now it's being done by Kruper (I think), excellent artist. And for the record, Dave Berg was NEVER funny!

I have a subscription. Aragones MAD marginals are classic. I have the complete Spy Vs. Spy Casebook by Antonio Prohias. I just bought a Alfred E. Neuman shirt the other day with his famous quote on it- "What, me worry?"

The problem's really started when they began to advertise...FOR REAL. No more MAD ad parodies on the back cover. That killed me...

Well, the whole mass merchandising and ad road started after they sold out to Warner.
I always loved how they could not effectively unload their full-color portraits of Alfred E. Neuman. Steve
