Sorry if this has been covered before, and I'm sure it has at one time or another, but I am wanting to produce a champagne bottle from silks to present the Bride and Groom at weddings. Does anyone know of a great routine or prop for doing this? I was told at the local magic shop that a fellow from Germany had this effect out sometime ago but didn't know if it was still available. I think his name sounded like Moose or Muse. Thanks.

"THIS" is a bottle production from three silks. It is sold by Hank Lee (and others) and is exactly what you are looking for. Easy (almost self working), angle proof, and magical.
Do a search on THIS and read the discussions about the effect.
The artist formally known as Mumblepeas!

THIS is a great method for production of any long heavy load. Years ago (1980s) George Shindler (the sponge egg man) used it in shows for the New York Wine Growers shows. They may still be available from George at ShowBiz Services on the Net.
I will admit that I immediately switched the 24" silks that came with it for better ones that fit the rest of my act. (The hems were not acceptable to me.) But the concept and handling alone are worth the money. Personal note: Be careful of the foil on the bottle. Rub it down smooth, if necessary. Good Luck! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

Manfred Thumm was the guy from Germany and unfortunately, he is retired. He made some great bottle productions from silks. I have a bottle production and disappearance to a silk streamer that I use in my act. It is a beautiful ending. You may be able to purchase one of his productions second hand, maybe on ebay.
Good Luck. |

Try Daytona Magic.
They have some original Magic Hands bottle tricks. I have definitely seen the Manfred Thumm version on the web - maybe from a German supplier, or Mephisto in Belgium. |

The best bottle production I have seen in the last 20 years is Michael Ammar's bottle production. It's on his lecture video and I was fortunate enough to have Michael teach it to me personally. He even let me wear his coat while I practiced. If you haven't seen it, the production uses one ungimmicked silk or handkerchief. It uses a topit which may not be for everyone but man is it beautiful to watch.

"Splash Bottle" by Damien Vappereau and Jean-Mark Sainclaire, owners of "Magic Dream" in Paris, is a bottle production from a balloon. I don´t own this effect yet but I assume one can adapt it to a silk version. If you do a search you may find a video demo and decide for yourself.
Last Saturday night, near Dijon, France I attended Michael Ammar´s OUTSTANDING conference. He did his bottle production and it was fantastic. Indeed, beautiful to watch as mentioned above. It got me very interested in the topit. I mentioned the Ammar lecture to Jean-Mark yesterday and referred to the bottle production. He pointed out a very important difference between his version and Ammar´s: "Splash Bottle"´s gimmick allows you to produce a FULL bottle whereas the topit version should preferably, be empty. If you know topit, you will understand. Interesting point and something worth reflecting upon. José

I must say that I have used the Splash Bottle Production, Michael Ammars production and THIS. I have to say that the best bottle production is the one that fits the routine! (That is why I have used all three).
I have used them for different applications and "themed" shows. They are all effective if presented properly. By the way, Johnny Ace Palmer also uses a bottle production with nothing more than a scarf. I don't believe that this is original to him but he sure makes it look like real magic! |

If you are doing the production at the beginning of your floor show (I do) then Ammar's is an excellent choice. Contrary to statements above, I produce a FULL bottle of champagne, nearly every week end, using this method, and have never had a problem. |

I am sure this has already been done. I appropriated a 20th Century gimmick and two matching silks to produce a bottle. I did the three count the same as you would to hide a key ring or even the ropes in the professor's nightmare.

I will add my whole-hearted support to the 'This' bottle production. I bought mine years ago from Hank Lee and it is still going strong.
One word of warning though - if you get booked at an outdoor event, find a different production item. I learned this the hard way. Cheers |

Usually I produce the Line of Silks (16 square silks on a ribbon) from the THIS (Improved). It is a great opener or closing trick.

The Ammar bottle production is based on BOB READ BOTTLE PRODUCTION.
Doesn't need a topit ! only an ordinary jacket. I think it is described in the Bob Read special edition of GENII. ARNO |

I am looking for a flower bouquet to produce from the 'bottle production from three silks'. The larger the better - any suggestions where this can be found? It has to be less than 10" long when stored in the gimmick.

Max,
Use the THIS (Improved) and you can use a 16" load like four umbrellas. Check with Richard Hughes about feather flowers (and tubes) to use. He can custom make you whatever. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |
