I've been to a lot of conventions over the years; however, Magic Live in Las Vegas was the best. The close-up sessions were held in the actual settings, a real bar in the casino, a restaurant, a corporate-decorated hall, etc and the magic was out of this world.Eric Mead was in the Black Cat Club, at Chez 13 was Michael Close, Big 13 Trade show was Tim Conover, and in Theatre 13 was Shoot Ogawa, and Armando Lucero.
After each of the lectures, there were breakout sessions where you could question the lecturers and get to know them on a more personal level.
The best part of the convention was the 27 dealers and the over 70 magic celebs that were there. I got to meet Marvin Roy, Jeff McBride, Penn and Teller, Channing Pollock, Mac King, Billy McComb, Steven Bargatze, Norm Neilson, Greg Wilson, Joshua Jay,Max Maven,Rick Thomas,Levent, Jeff Hobson, The Keeners,
Dazzling Diane, and these are but just of the few of the celebs. I also met the Cosentino Brothers from Australia. More information is on the hocus pocus site on its magic live daily blog section. Does any one have an photos or DVDs from the event?

I wouldn't say that “Magic Live” surpassed the original “Magic Live” 3 years ago, but they definitely equaled it. Still, the think I loved the most about both of them was that all the magicians mentioned in the previous posting were approachable. You could greet them in the hall or sit with them in the hospitality suite discussing various tricks. Tom Jorgenson spent a lot of time in the hospitality suite drawing the hands of various magicians performing their favorite trick. Plus, they had break out sessions where you could talk with the different lecturers and get more one-on-one instructions. Overall, it is still the best Magic Convention you can go too.
