I have been running a couple of surveys for my marketing job and I thought is would be fun to set one up for the magicians.
Why do you do magic? If you would like to contribute to this survey, please go to this site: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=43853625735 Just to assure you, I am not collecting any marketing or personal information (E-mails, names, ip addresses, or anything else) about anyone answering these 10 questions and there is no sales pitch involved. It is just out of curiousity. I'll let it run a week or so and post the results here. Thanks, Richard |

Thanks to everyone with the great responses. So far 43 people have responded. I'll let it run until friday evening and then post the results. What I'll do is post a summary here and set up a quick web page with all the details.
Thanks again, Richard |

OK everyone, here are the results:
69 people anwered the questions. The most popular answers were I have been doing magic for more than 20 years (31.9%) I started magic when I was under 12. (47.8%) I perform magic only for fun. (44.9%) I would most like to perform magic as a full-time professional. (31.9%) I mostly perform close-up in small groups. (62.3%) I would most like to perform close-up in small groups. (55.1%) I started magic because I saw a live magician. (21.7%) I am most influenced by [OTHER]. (42.6%) I believe wonder is most important to a magical effect. (49.3%) I was surpised by some of the answers. Less people than I thought are interested in performing stage magic. Only 2 people felt technical skill was most important to a magical effect. And, nobody started magic between the ages of 16 and 18. My guess on this is that interest in the opposite sex overruled all other interests at this time of life You can look at the complete survey results at: http://mysite.verizon.net/rtgreen1/survey.html Thanks to everyone for participating. I think this was a lot of fun. I'll keep the survey open, so if you still want to take it you can. Richard |
