I am a relative newbie, and have been learning steadily card sleights while adding close-up things like TT's into my abilities. Having used the Raven effectively, I wanted to learn to use traditional pulls as well.
I ordered the Vernet Universl Pull, as well as an amazing looking industrial strength pull called the PM Magic Reel from Petrick and Mia.
The instructions and examples are written, in best, in some language resembling English! <s> If anyone can assist with tips on technique -- I understand the basic way to pin the pull -- on the pulls, and/or specifics on this special PM reel, I would be very grateful.
(This Magic Café seems like a great place. If they had an offline reader I would be ecstatic.)

TIA,

Tuvia

I appreciate the recommendation, I will check if I can get it in the States vs waiting for a shipment from England.

Thanks again.

Magic City might have it. Chuck Kirchner is a good friend of Martin Breese.

John Carney did the best vanish using a pull that I've ever seen. And it was recently.

His timing for the vanish was absolutely astounding.

Typically I'd be rocking in my chair with my arms folded whispering to myself.... "PULL" when something disappeared.

Not this time. He blew on a silk that was in a glass.... and it was gone.

MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!

As Mr. Carney demonstrated, it's not about the pull, it's about when the magic happens.

Until you see WHEN it ACTUALLY vanishes you have a lot to learn about magic.

"Now why didn't I think of that" is all I could say.

I believe it's in his book "The Book of Secrets"!

I was severely affected by his use of timing... if you can't tell Smile

That is the oldest of the olde... The Lamp Chimney Vanish" -- lots of way to do that are already in print. Marconic, Ken Brooke, et al, had great variations.

USING A PULL JUST TAKES PRACTICT AND TIMING.

Check Bill Neff's way to "get the pull" for his rope trick, it can be used for all kinds of pulls too.

Pete,
I'm not sure about the others but in Carney's version, the silk is gone long before you SEE it disappear.
