Another historic Jail cell defeated by Santini in shackles which also involved "him" personally gaining freedom for 2 volunteers from their locked cells too.
Take a look!

Most escape artists seem pretty small and lithe....Steve seems like a bigger guy. That gives me hope, and hope to all other bigger guys interested in escape.

Hey guys, I am five foot seven and a half, and weigh around 200. My shape fools people often. I never let it stop me. Yes, my props had to be a bit bigger than say Houdini who I think was 5,2 or 5,3.

Hi

Thank you all for the kind well wishes and conratulations.

At this time, 4 more jailbreaks are planned by me for the coming months.

A few here in Canada and a couple in Germany.

It's too bad some of my U.K. escapology friends do not live closer to Germany because I will on tour there in a very short while.

Thanks again, Steve Santini

"Ya Ya Ya!"

Bring on the beer barrel escape.

What's that? The barrel is full and I first must empty it?

Well, it's a lousy job but someone's got to do it!

Thank you BullzEyE.

To be sure, the restraints in Germany will not be nearly as easy as my recent cell escapes (although none of these were "easy" either).

Two of the sites we are currently in negotiations with house very extensive and expansive collections of ancient restraints as well as Medieval instuments of torture.

No gimmicks here folks!

Should be fun and at least interesting.

Hopefully, some of these locations will pan out.

"Ha!" I am probably the only person on the planet that has ever wanted these things intentionally put on them.

Cheers, Steve

If you're referring to medieval instruments of torture, there have been others who have, including Houdini, Randi, Steve Baker, and yours truly.
Good luck, sounds like fun.

As have I in the past.

But authentic ones? Or modern remakes?

Heck, it is going to be such a treat to even see these actual provenanced objects (in some cases provenanced)let alone try to actually get out of some of them.

What grim histories they would each have to tell!

Actually, I have a feeling that most of these tests are going to involve various museums' collections of ancient restraints as opposed to torture devices.

This will be enough of a pain all on it's own.

If you know about "cup shackles" and the like, you can imagine just how interesting this all could turn out to be!

The luck may indeed be needed.

>"But authentic ones? Or modern remakes?"

In my case, a little of both, not that it matters too much functionally. A fascinating sidelight on medieval instruments of torture is that many of the allegedly 'authentic' ones are 19th century fakes crafted by castle owners to bait a tourist industry that had latched onto the Gothic literature movement. Even the 19th century contraptions, though, confine effectively, can do real damage, and are pieces of pop-culture history.

If any country had a fairly good share of the real article, though, Germany would be one such country.

Sounds like you've got a real adventure in store.

Hi Steve,

Yes, I agree with you on all counts. I, like you, have had an interest in these curious devices for many years and have been fortunate enough to collect some authentic pieces and also use them in my escapes.

It is a pity that many extant examples are indeed not representative of the period of the originals and when collecting same one needs to have a good knowledge of the genuine article and also how metal was worked back then and how it can also be made to age artificially.

However, as you pointed out, both can confine and cause real damage.

A great adventure indeed awaits...

Steve

I have now planned a trip to New York City in the coming year.

While there I will perform a number of interesting escapes as well as looking up a number of escapists.

Should be a pleasure on all counts...

Hi Tony,

You sure are buddy! Right up top.

As well, there are others who I have only communicated with via the Café that I greatly look forward to finally meeting face to face and in person.

Should be very interesting...

Steve

Hey Tony,

When I finally get down there, I plan on bringing with me some neat gear.

Of particular note is one certain set of rather heavy handcuffs you yourself had the pleasure of trying on when you were up here for you visit.

I am certain you probably would not mind seeing them in person again.

I imagine other people in your neck of the woods should have a chance to try them on as well...
